Oil & Gas Engineering Position
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission is seeking an Engineer II position. The engineer position that we seek to hire will conduct required reviews of industry-submitted permits and reports such as well completion reports, well stimulation reports, well integrity reports, well logs, and other various reviews required by agency rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Issues, reviews, comments, and revises plan sets.
- Reviews and approves or rejects project submittals/permits.
- Review and updating of forms and documentation procedures in regards to construction activities and pay quantities.
- Inspects and assures projects/facilities are completed according to plans, specifications, and design criteria and are within budgetary constraints.
- Compiles and submits engineering recommendations and summaries for the design of various projects/facilities with varying levels of complexity.
- Conducts extensive research of existing and evolving technologies.
- Provides technical guidance, advice, and oversight.
- Review of Architectural drawings and specifications in regards to building construction. Monitored and inspected contractor operations during building construction to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications.
- Work in direct contact with contractors and subcontractors daily in the management of projects under construction.
- In the same context, deal with landowners, traveling public and local, county, state, and federal government entities.
- Maintains and manipulates databases, builds network-wide performance models used for system analysis; provides technical support on widely-used department software programs.
- Surveys buildings and other structures and determines their ability to withstand the forces of nature as well as such other unnatural disasters such as fire, explosion, and warfare;
- Ensures that all public buildings are constructed or modified to conform with federal and state laws that require access and accommodation for the disable
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of authoritative reference materials in the field of engineering.
- Knowledge of surveying and surveying instruments and measurement and testing equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of complex algorithms used in mathematical computer models to recognize the theory as the basis of their use.
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes, project scheduling, cost estimating procedures, and material quantity takeoffs.
- Knowledge of scientific and/or technical research practices.

NASA Center Summer Internship Opportunities:
The Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium provides funding for internships at NASA Centers. Summer internships at NASA Centers are 10-week, paid internships that take place at a NASA Center ($7,300 for salary for undergraduates and $9,000 for graduate students). The Land Group 2021 Civil Engineering Summer Internship
The Land Group is proud to offer a comprehensive 10 week, summer internship in our Eagle, Idaho office. Our approach is student centered and offers an experience that is completely focused on the development of the intern through hands on work experience, exposure to all aspects of a professional career in varied venues, and the integrated research and design process. Our Integrated Research and Design Project pairs the landscape architect and civil engineering interns together with a professional mentor and an assigned research and design topic. In addition to the research mentor, each intern is paired with a mentor who will guide you through the program and will also give you exposure to all aspects of professional practice.
Interns are also assigned two or more day-to-day mentors that oversee the hands on office tasks with the goal of broadening your professional and technical expertise. We encourage full-time graduate and undergraduate (2 academic years completed) students of landscape architecture, civil engineering, and land surveying to apply.

9H Research Foundation has committed to building a Student Research Center as a philanthropic effort that will gift clean energy to the University of Wyoming’s College of Engineering and Applied Science. As a result, 9H energy has made long-term commitments in Clean Energy focused professorships, research, grants, and student internships with the goal of helping the University become the premier higher education and research center for clean energy. 9H Energy is sponsoring student design projects including an engineering senior design competition with a $5,000 prize. 9H Energy is also funding student groups to design and build solar prototypes and energy storage projects.
The Student Research Center will generate data used by companies to determine the viability of future commercial facilities and operations in the Laramie area. Volunteer Eco Students Abroad holds annual information sessions for the students at the University of Wyoming who are interested overseas community development projects. Due to Covid-19, they will do the information sessions online! They have Instagram Q&A’s each week for those who want to find out more and to have all their questions answered, with past participants from the university joining in to answer questions as well. They are hoping to get projects running again in 2022, so the students this year can travel again when it is safe to do so.
Instagram Q&As go up every Wednesday for the students until March 24th.
