Construction Management Job
About the Position
GW Mechanical is looking for someone interested in the construction management field as a career and will be hiring to work in their Laramie office. They would be training this candidate in the daily processes in which they manage their different projects throughout southeast Wyoming. You would not only receive a weekly paycheck but would also gain valuable experience in the office side of construction. Duties would include; writing of purchase orders, putting together submittals for projects, writing RFIs, organizing O&Ms for project close out, receiving materials and managing receipts for materials received, among others.

Mechanical Engineering Position
JOB SUMMARY
The QC/CMM Specialist is responsible for performing quality assurance/control functions, including but not limited to: Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), i.e., mechanical, optical, laser, probes, and white light/NDT/UT/MT testing of components, documentation and inspection report generation, calibration of test equipment and fixtures, and document control of inspection records and templates. Key responsibility is to minimize reword and quality defects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform field machine audits.
Support the strategic direction of the shop and field organization throughout the division.
Demonstrate leadership, integrity, teamwork, quality and urgency in the performance of one’s functions and responsibilities to ensure the goals of customer satisfaction, market dominance and profitability are achieved.
Day-to-day inspections and quality control of multiple shop/field projects, including CMM/NDT/UT/MT testing.
Computer aided drafting (CAD) responsibilities to provide support for company functions including but not limited to reverse engineering, process improvement and project execution.
Training, safety, project documentation, inspection report generation, capital equipment suggestions and customer interaction with ongoing projects.
Respond to client or customer requests for service in a timely manner.
Interact with the Technical Service Group to source required technical information.
Interact with other shop departments, and/or field departments, for executing and supporting projects.
Effective job execution to meet established quality of workmanship and minimizing rework.
Identify, propose and implement new technologies to further enhance the QA/QC department.
Engineer, develop and design solutions to resolve known problems identified by our customers to our Technical Service Group.
Interact with Caterpillar product group engineers to insure compliance with manufacturing standards associated with DSS manufactured parts for Caterpillar.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensed driver in good standing.
Minimum of five (5) years’ QA/QC experience in repairing large mining or other industrial equipment. Seniors at UW do not need to have experience to apply!!
CAD software experience, i.e., AutoCad, Polyworks, Solidworks.
Report experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project/Outlook
Working knowledge of CMM/NDT/UT.
Excellent human relations and communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of removal and repair of components of large mining equipment.
Good human relations skills to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
PREFERRED
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
Minimum of five (5) years’ Caterpillar Dealer experience or maintenance repair in similar work environment.

Stahly Engineers - Land Survey Technician
Job Overview
Assist survey staff with field data collection and stakeout. Initially, this will entail working closely with our licensed Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) or Land Survey Interns (LSI) to insure proper training in operating and caring for survey data collection equipment on typical data collection and stakeout projects. The technician will also be trained in data post-processing. After approximately 3 months of training, the employee will be expected to perform these tasks on a more independent basis, for example, performing local field and post-processing tasks unassisted but still under the direct supervision of a PLS.
This position requires the ability to travel and stay away from home, typically no more than a week at a time. One can expect consecutive out of town trips in our busiest months. It is also a seasonal position and winter part-time employment needs vary from year to year depending on workload and backlog. Anticipated months of full time employment are April through November.
Essential Functions of the Job
• Ability to quickly learn electronic measurement systems and processing software and perform operation and maintenance of such systems.
• Learn and perform standard field procedures and practices such as proper setup of measuring equipment (tripod leveling, etc.), starting and performing field data collection and measuring, and processing and transmittal of data deliverables.
• Learn and employ company standard practices such as field data feature and automated drafting codes, post-processing and quality control techniques, and good communication.
• Take and follow directions and guidance from a supervisor.
• Professional and courteous interaction with co-workers and the general public.
• Keep assigned field vehicle and equipment well organized and clean.
• Adhere to all safety policies of the company.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Stahly Engineering & Associates has an excellent survey staff with a mentorship program in place and therefore will invest in the amount of training necessary for the survey technician to work independently in the field.
• Prior survey knowledge and ability is preferred, specifically, experience with survey-grade global positioning systems (GPS) and related geomatics software, and conventional total station type equipment and practices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (IF ANY):
The ability to withstand sustained periods (all day) of being outside and endure Montana’s weather is essential. Must be able to use a sledge-hammer and carry heavy equipment such as GPS base station, RV battery, tripods, and equipment and supply bags. Must be able to stand for sustained periods (all day) and have the ability to hike up and down steep grades and climb over fences. Other physical duties include loading and unloading survey equipment and supplies into and out of the back of a truck daily, and loading, unloading, and operating a four-wheeler or UTV.
Required Education and Experience
Prior field surveying experience is strongly preferred. Twelve credits of classroom/lab survey related education or training is preferred. This could be formal education credits (college or university) or informal seminar type training. A current valid driver’s license is required; ability to operate a four-wheeler or UTV is preferred.

The Officer Selection Team runs an ROTC-ALTERNATIVE program called Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) for freshmen through juniors and Officer Candidate Course (OCC) for seniors and graduates.
This program provides top-notch leadership training and the opportunity to accept a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. With your education, you may qualify for one of these programs, which allows you to continue your studies while earning your commission as a Marine Officer. This is a little-known elite program that is designed to develop and evaluate your abilities to lead large groups of your peers, while evaluating your physical fitness and academic abilities. If you are interested in a summer experience that will give you an excellent resume booster (at a minimum) and provide you with a guaranteed job when you graduate college, consider the information below.
Basic Details:
- Freshmen and sophomores attend (2) six-week training sessions over two summers, while juniors attend (1) 10 week training session.
- College seniors and graduates attend (1) 10 week training session through Officer Candidate Course.
- Unlike traditional ROTC: No on-campus training, drills, uniform requirements, or meetings.

Qualifications:

Seasonal Engineering Tech Intern
Description
To assist in the collection of data related to ADA and storm sewer facilities within the public right-of-way and private drainage detention facilities. To assist with engineering plan reviews, document reviews, and data entry. To assist with construction inspection and quantity take-offs.
Receives direction from the Deputy City Engineer. Must be able to work in close harmony with the Engineering, GIS, and 1% Construction Staff.
Essential Functions:
Assist the department with inspections, work quantity and materials used in the public-right-of-way projects.
Assist with inspections in various construction projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, streets, sidewalks, gutters, structural concrete, storm systems and various related facilities.
Observe work during progress and upon completion; keep a record of changes in plans or variances in the work and who authorized them.
Collect data related to ADA and storm sewer facilities.
Marginal Functions:
Assist the Engineering Department with miscellaneous office duties such as correspondence, plan reviews, document reviews, and/or updating files or maps etc.

Knowledge of:

Read and interpret plans and specifications of public works projects.

Experience and Training Guidelines
This is an entry level position. Experience with data collection, construction observation, Microsoft Office products, ArcGIS, and AutoDesk are preferred but not required.
License or Certificate
Must have a valid Wyoming Drivers License (Class C Minimum).
Education
High School diploma with advanced education at the college level in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Environmental Conditions:
Office/field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, inclement weather conditions, and construction equipment and construction conditions such as dust, mud, hot oil, cement dust or other construction materials.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, sitting, lifting, or crouching for prolonged periods of time, and in the operation of a motorized vehicle.
