Drop-off & Pick-up Updates and Reminders | |
Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work out a smooth and safe pick up and drop off process. Below are a couple reminders and tips to ensure that safe drop off and pick up takes place.
Reminders:
-
Please do not drop off or pick up your student on the streets surrounding DC North's campus.
- Ask your student to take the cross walks so that they safely cross the street if you are dropping them off at the park.
-
Do not park or wait for your student in any surrounding business parking lots. CEC has received some complaints about that and those businesses indicated that if it persists, they may call the sheriff's office for trespassing.
-
Use the left lane in the main driveway for through traffic and the right lane for drop off and pick up, pulling forward to the end of the island- where our new "Pull Forward" sign is (see the pink dot on the map below).
Appreciate your support in ensuring that the drive line stays safe and that we are respectful neighbors.
| |
Tips:
Park in CEC's student lot to wait for your student instead of waiting in the drive line. Please just be mindful of other cars and students in the parking lot.
Park at John Derry Park at 312 Inverness Dr. S to drop off or pick up your student. They can then cross the street at the cross walk to get to campus.

Hi everyone, I'm Ms. Smith, the new 504 Coordinator! I am a 2019 CEC Parker graduate. After high school, I attended the University of Northern Colorado where I studied elementary education with an emphasis in special education. I also attended the Aveda Institute in Denver and received my cosmetology licensure! When I'm not at the school, you'll either find me coaching at Cheer Athletics Denver, or at home with my 3 cats (Max, Ruby, and Pip). I can't wait to get to know and work with y'all!

The back-to-school transition can bring about a range of emotions, from excitement to anxiety. Having open conversations about feelings and stress management techniques can give students the tools they need to navigate their emotions effectively. Schools and families can work together to create supportive environments that promote resilience and positive mental health not only for youth, but for the adults that support youth as well.
Explore these resources on how you can make that transition easier and ways you can prioritize you and your family’s wellness this school year:
A 12-Minute 4-7-8 Breathing Meditation
Mindful shares Dr. Andrew Weil’s 4-7-8 breathing technique that can be used when one is feeling anxious, stressed, or may even have difficulty falling asleep. This easy breathing practice helps to release stagnant air in the lungs and find calm.
Suicide Prevention Month
September observes Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 10-14, the third leading cause of death among those aged 15-24, and the 12th leading cause of death overall in the U.S. By sharing stories, educating communities, and promoting open dialogue, we can break down stigmas, offer hope to those struggling, and encourage a more compassionate approach to mental health challenges. Explore more resources on Suicide Prevention from NAMI.
Remember, you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide or harm, help is available. Call or text 988.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the CEC DC North school nurse, Sarah Phillips, BSN, RN, via email at sarah.phillips@coloradoearlycolleges.org or by phone at 720-505-4010 ext. 22133.
