It is important that we prepare our staff and students for incidents that may change their daily routine due to a safety or security issue. Each month, we will conduct drills to help inform our students of procedures in hopes of preparing our school for what we hope to be an unlikely event. On October 3, during 1st period, we will conduct a LOCKDOWN drill as well as a fire/evacuation drill. During these drills, no one will be allowed to enter or leave the building. Please be aware that you may need to plan around these activities. For more information, please see this flyer. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Michelle Pratt at michelle.pratt@coloradoearlycolleges.org.

October Count Day is Tuesday!
Every school year we are required by the Colorado Department of Education to report our enrollment numbers. This is done by attendance verification. The official count day this year is October 1st.
We ask that all on-campus students be present for each assigned class during the class time on October Count Day. Due to the importance of Count Day on 10/1, please do NOT schedule appointments or plan for late arrivals or early pickups on that date which would remove the student from the classroom.
Bottom line, October Count provides the funding for your student to receive the $4,200 tuition allotment to pursue college goals, obtain certifications, and for us to hire and retain quality instructors, and deliver top-notch programming! October Count is crucial to the continued success of CECDC to provide you and your family this wonderful opportunity.
We kindly request your support during Count Day. If you have questions regarding this event, please contact the school for additional information.
As an incentive for being at school that day, we have planned a fun-filled day for students (please see below).

The back-to-school transition can bring about a range of emotions, from excitement to anxiety. Having open conversations about feelings and stress management techniques can give students the tools they need to navigate their emotions effectively. Schools and families can work together to create supportive environments that promote resilience and positive mental health not only for youth, but for the adults that support youth as well.
Explore these resources on how you can make that transition easier and ways you can prioritize you and your family’s wellness this school year:
A 12-Minute 4-7-8 Breathing Meditation
Mindful shares Dr. Andrew Weil’s 4-7-8 breathing technique that can be used when one is feeling anxious, stressed, or may even have difficulty falling asleep. This easy breathing practice helps to release stagnant air in the lungs and find calm.
Suicide Prevention Month
September observes Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 10-14, the third leading cause of death among those aged 15-24, and the 12th leading cause of death overall in the U.S. By sharing stories, educating communities, and promoting open dialogue, we can break down stigmas, offer hope to those struggling, and encourage a more compassionate approach to mental health challenges. Explore more resources on Suicide Prevention from NAMI.
Remember, you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide or harm, help is available. Call or text 988.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the CEC DC North school nurse, Sarah Phillips, BSN, RN, via email at sarah.phillips@coloradoearlycolleges.org or by phone at 720-505-4010 ext. 22133.
