A NOTE FROM DR. EGGER
Hello, CECI Community.
Spring break is upon us. Even with the expected weather approaching, I hope that we all find time to relax, to re-engage with our hobbies, to maybe enjoy a good board game, open that new book, watch a good TV series, or maybe even make that snow angel. Whatever it is you decide to do, seek joy.
We have such wonderful families, faculty, staff, and students. They are hard-working, caring, and dedicated! As a result, CECI has been able to remain on-campus for the majority of the school year, and we hope to finish out the year enjoying our beautiful school. Of course, we need your help to keep up the good work for the next 8 weeks. Please help us by making thoughtful decisions during spring break and beyond- remember, CECI has our Extended Remote Environment option available. We will return to campus on 3/22.
Thank you all for making our school such a special place. While school is fully closed during the next week, many of us will be checking our voicemails and emails frequently.
Enjoy your break.

SPRING BREAK HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
As we are hopefully all very well aware, spring break is NEXT WEEK and many may choose to travel. We request that whatever you choose to do, you please keep the safety of our community in mind so we can finish the last 8 weeks of our semester strong!
According to the CDC, below are recommendations regarding travel:
-
Wear a mask over your nose and mouth when in public settings (even if the state you are traveling to does not have a mask mandate).
-
Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who did not travel with you. It’s important to do this everywhere — both indoors and outdoors.
-
Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).
- Avoid contact with anyone who is sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
-
Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after your trip and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if your test is negative. If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
-
Here is a link for free testing sites in the Tri-County area: https://www.tchd.org/827/Free-Testing-Sites
- Documentation and testing criteria for traveling internationally versus in-country vary country by country and state by state. You will need to fulfill those criteria to be admitted back into the country and/or state.
By taking extra precautions we will be able to help ensure the continued safety and health of our students and staff and keep our school open for in-person learning. Thank you for your dedication to keeping our environment safe & healthy!

BINAXNOW COVID TESTS
We are excited to announce that the State of Colorado has allocated BinaxNOW Rapid Point-of-Care Antigen COVID-19 tests to Colorado Early Colleges. These tests can be used to detect COVID-19 and will be available to students and staff at CEC. Written parental consent will be required prior to a student being tested. If a student or staff member is exhibiting symptoms or it has been at least 5 days since they have been exposed to COVID-19, they are eligible to take the BinaxNOW test to help identify a positive case. BinaxNOW tests are not as sensitive as PCR tests and may miss an active COVID-19 infection. A follow-up PCR test is recommended to confirm a negative test result if an individual is reporting symptoms, has a known exposure to COVID-19, or lives/has traveled to an area with high rates of COVID-19. The BinaxNOW tests are a great tool in our tool belt to help keep our staff and students safe and remain in-person for learning. Please reach out to Ashley Bose, our CEC Douglas County school nurse, with any questions or concerns (ashley.bose@coloradoearlycolleges.org).
