PSAT Sign Up

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual competition for high school students (both traditional and homeschooled) planning to attend college. Students need to take the PSAT/NMSQT, usually in their junior year, to be eligible for scholarships and recognition through the program. Taking the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT 10 won't qualify students for the program.

The deadline to sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 12th at your campus, is September 12th. If you would like your sophomore to take the practice test or your junior to take the test that counts toward scholarships, please fill out this form

For those of you who are already signed up, please do the following:

  • Create a College Board account at collegeboard.org if you have not done so already.
  • Our school AI code is 061157 if you need it to sign up.
  • There are practice tests available on the College Board website.
  • Please review.
  • A hard copy of the student guides will be available at Parker, Castle Rock, and Inverness.
  • Send your check for $17.00 written out to CEC Douglas County.
  •  Please send the check the week of October 4th.
  • Please do not send it earlier as the school business manager must operate within a specific timeline for receiving funds.
  • The test will be administered at the CEC campus you attend on Wednesday, October 12th.
  • Please arrive by 7:30 a.m.

More details will be made available as we get closer to the test. Thanks!

Advisor Assignments

The CEC Inverness department is reorganizing! Mrs. Rodriguez is now the Director of Advising, and we’ve added another advisor to our team, Mrs. Jameson! This has resulted in new advisor assignments for students. See below to find out who your advisor is:

  • Last name starts with A-K: Mrs. Jameson
  • Last name starts with L-Z: Mrs. Smith
  • Returning College Direct students and My Tech High (MTH) students: Mrs. Rodriguez

The only exceptions are for siblings. If you are a younger sibling to an older student, you will meet with the older student’s advisor. If you fall into this category, your advisor will reach out to you.

Bus Transportation UPDATE

Thanks again to the families anxiously and patiently waiting on a bus driver. Currently, we have an individual who is willing and ready to become our driver. CECI is working diligently to get him trained and endorsed. Know that we have been working with a variety of other school districts to see if they are able to train and certify our driver. Unfortunately, due to their shortages, they are not able to provide us with training.

The good news is we have a driver. In an effort to be competitive with local districts, we are looking at ways to train driver candidates to get their CDL license through CEC.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.

Free/Reduced Lunch Enrollment

At the end of the last school year, it was announced by the USDA that the special funding to support free school meals for all students was not renewed, and that school meal payments will resume this fall.

We encourage you to apply now for free or reduced-priced meals. Paper applications are available at all schools and online at this link:  https://family.titank12.com/application/new?identifier=86R28B.

Your children may qualify to receive free or reduced-price school meals if they:

  • Receive SNAP, FDPIR, or TANF.
  • Are a foster child under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or the court.
  • Attend a Head Start program.
  • Meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant.
  • Have a qualifying income, for example, for the 2022-2023 school year, a family of four that earns less than $51,338 per year.

You only need to fill out  one application per household. Even if you filled out the application in previous years, you will need to complete the application every school year.

Lunch Cost Update

Why are meals no longer free?

Over the past two years, the federal government allowed all students to eat free regardless of the learning environment or family financial situations. However, beginning on the first day of school for the 22-23 school year, students will be charged for both breakfast and lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

How much will meals cost?

If you are not eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch (see section above), your meals will cost:

  • Breakfast will be $2.75.
  • Lunch will be $4.25.
  • Second entree price will be $2.50.
  • Second meal price will be $4.25.

How do I pay for my meals?

If you are not eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch (see section above), you will need to pay for your lunch in one of the following ways:

How can I view what is for lunch?

Food Services posts recipes, menus, meal prices, and other information on our website at  www.coloradoearlycolleges.org/food.

Spring Break Europe Trip

Thank you to all of the families that attended information meetings for our Europe’s Mediterranean Coast trip! Please remember, the deadline to register for this trip is September 5, 2022. Please register with this link: www.eftours.com/2565192fn

If you would like to refer back to any information stated in the meeting, the recorded meeting is linked here: Europe Meeting on Teams-20220822_183207-Meeting Recording.mp4

Please also note, there has been a change within EF Tour’s vaccination policy, which now allows all students to travel despite vaccination status. If your student is interested in travel, please read through EF Tour’s safety procedures regarding COVID-19, linked here: https://www.eftours.com/health-and-safety

All of these countries allow travelers to enter without a vaccination but may require a negative COVID-19 test. This can change at any time, so it is recommended to purchase global travel protection plus to best protect your investment.
