CPR/FIRST AID CLASS
CEC is hosting a CPR and First Aid class with two options for dates:
Saturday, October 16th OR Sunday, October 17th.

The class is open to 8th-12th graders and will run 2:00pm-5:30pm

The class will cover adult, child, and infant basic first aid and CPR, including AED use.

Students who successfully complete the class will earn a 2-year certification through the American Safety and Health Institute.

The cost of the class is $65 per student. Each class is limited to 16 students.

If your student would like to register, please email Mrs. Karppinen at: karen.karppinen@coloradoearlycolleges.org with your student(s) name and choice of date -- Sat Oct 16 OR Sun Oct 17. Mrs. Karppinen will reply to confirm that a seat is still available.

The CPR organization is requiring participants to wear masks in their October classes and is arranging to set up each participant with their own equipment to prevent close contact. Students will need to bring a $65 check made out to "Learning by Heart CPR" to the class

Please email: karen.karppinen@coloradoearlycolleges.org with questions or to register your student!
CLCS ADVOCACY NETWORK INFORMATION
The Colorado League of Charter School's Advocacy Network, ACT, has a number of resources (in English and Spanish) used to inform families of their needed support of charter schools. You can access these resources by clicking the button below.

Sign up to win money for you and our school!

CECFC is a member of the Colorado League of Charter Schools. As a member, the League provides us with critical advice and support throughout the school year, especially when it comes to protecting our interests and promoting our needs at the State Capitol. They also provide information about charter schools as well as training opportunities for our families and our staff through their ACT Advocacy Network.

This year the League is working hard to add more like-minded supporters to the network and the three schools that sign up the most supporters will win a $1,000 cash prize! In addition, 12 families from across the state will each win a $250 gift card! Sign up to win prizes and to ensure CECFC has the resources and support we need to serve your child and the rest of our students well.
DRESS CODE
Parents, your students must adhere to CEC's dress code at all times. Our school dress code ensures safety, professionalism, and instills student self-discipline.

Parents, please review the dress code and check your student(s) before sending them to school. Students who have already been warned about dress code will be given in-school suspension until they have appropriate attire.

Expectations:
• Student IDs will be visible at all times when on campus for safety and security.
• Students should wear clothing that covers ALL undergarments and midriff.
• Tops must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit. Tank-top straps must be at least “4 fingers wide”; NO spaghetti straps.
• Dresses, skirts, and shorts must be no shorter than midway between fingertip length and top of knee.
• Pajamas, slippers, blankets, and costumes are not allowed.
• Hats, beanies, hoods, or bandanas may not be worn inside the buildings. Traditional/Religious headwear, as well as protective hairstyles commonly or historically associated with race, are allowed.
• Shoes must be worn at all times. *Closed-toe shoes may be required in science labs and PE class.
• Any clothing, jewelry, accessories and tattoos that contain any words, symbols, or pictures that include any of the following: references to sex, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, obscenities, profanities, as well as anything vulgar, lewd, legally slanderous, distracting, and/or dangerous are prohibited and must be removed or covered.

Please read our entire CEC Student Dress Code policy by clicking on the button below.

Questions about whether a clothing item is out of dress code should be addressed with a CEC Leadership Team member before the item is worn.
WATER BOTTLES
Students must remember to bring their own water bottles to school and these should be labeled with their names. Water bottles will no longer be given out from the health office (as we run low on supply). These are reserved for ill students.

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS AND UPDATES
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
  • Face coverings are not required for students and staff; however, facemasks are recommended to be worn by unvaccinated individuals and those that feel more comfortable doing so.
  • CEC will be supportive of individuals that choose or need to wear masks. It is expected that every member of the CEC community will respect each other's decisions on these subjects.
  • We will continue to encourage hand washing and frequent cleaning of high touch areas.
  • Increased ventilation and use of outdoor spaces will be implemented whenever possible.
  • Any staff or students experiencing symptoms should stay home, this is the most important practice to limit quarantines of students and staff this year. CECFC will follow CDPHE’s updated Return to Learn Guidance for determining when students and staff can return to school. Students who are home sick can still access their classes through Microsoft Teams or the community college portal. Students should check course syllabi for requirements regarding absences in each of their courses.
  • Information on the number of positive/probable cases among staff and students will be provided in the weekly newsletter. If your student is in class with a positive/probable case you will be contacted by the school so you are aware of the exposure.
  • CEC’s virtual program is available for any students wishing to learn remotely this year. More information can be found here: CECFC Online Learning.
