From Head of School, Lacey Scadden
The state of Colorado has just launched a program called, I Matter. This program provides up to three FREE counseling sessions for all Colorado youth, ages 18 or younger or 21 and younger, if receiving special education services. The program is in place to promote youth emotional and mental health, which is needed now more than ever.
Three child and adolescent advocacy groups, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, have declared that the mental health crisis among children has become a national emergency. Those are serious words. There are many reasons, with the number one being stress brought on by COVID-19. Our youth here at CEC West are not immune. Talk to your children about stress and anxiety. Assure them that seeking professional help does not show weakness, but takes strength. Watch for signs such as disinterest in activities they used to enjoy, declining grades, withdrawing, avoiding social interactions, or difficultly sleeping. Make sure your child knows that they can come to you when their emotions are making school and other life activities difficult.
I encourage you to visit the I Matter website and contact me if you need ideas about how to talk to your child about mental health. As always, encourage your child to visit me if they need to talk or just need a little quiet during the day.

Introducing.... Reader’s Theater! Elevate Plus is a class where we work on many life skills. After Thanksgiving break, Elevate Plus class will be working on a Reader’s Theater of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” A special Reader’s Theater script of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be divided into various parts or “roles” for the students. Reader’s Theater is a FUN way to increase reading fluency and expression in our student’s oral reading skills!

Tips for Supporting Teens’
Mental Health This Fall
Mask Mandate
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute §§ 25-1-506, 508, and 516, and other applicable law the Public Health Director for the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment has issued a Public Health Order requiring face coverings to be worn in Public Indoor Spaces within Larimer County in order to control and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to maintain health care capacity in Larimer County.
The order requires mask-wearing in all public indoor spaces for all individuals 3 years and older regardless of vaccination status.
Wolf Store
The Friday Wolf store is a time students can spend the Wolf Bucks they earn during the week for demonstrations of Grit, Responsibility, and Respect. We are seeking parent donations to help fund items for the store. Wolf Store Donate page:  Click here
School of Choice Enrollment:
