Our staff and students returned from break refreshed, renewed, and ready to finish the semester strong. This week we are doing our Winter NWEA MAPS testing as our midyear benchmark to measure growth internally. This benchmark helps us set goals for students as we prepare for the state CMAS test in the spring. This year we have the goal to see all students grow at least one year academically. For students showing slow growth, we will plan for extra support in the spring. We are looking for local volunteers to come work with students on reading and math skills to assure one year's growth. We know that an individualized approach to learning will foster the most growth. We also encourage more reading at home! My favorite is when my children read to me while I am cooking dinner or folding laundry. While we are still battling learning loss from the pandemic, we are moving forward with preparing our students for high school. Our hope is to set students up for the best success possible.  #WolfPackGotYourBack

From the desk of Mrs. Wentink Introducing....Reader’s Theater! Elevate Plus is a class where we work on many life skills. Elevate Plus class is working on a Reader’s Theater of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” A special Reader’s Theater script of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be divided into various parts or “roles” for the students. Reader’s Theater is a FUN way to increase reading fluency and expression in our student’s oral reading skills!

From the desk of Mrs. Johnson 6th Grade: We are using the skills we learned this semester to write a short story, with characters, a plot, and a theme! 7th grade: We are writing a short essay about themes from "A Christmas Carol." 8th Grade: We are writing a short essay analyzing elements of the novel, Frankenstein ALL GRADES: Reading Log is due on Friday! Students will have the opportunity to make up for missing Reading Logs on Fridays.

Chinese intermediate II is having a writing project to imitate the literature style of "Wandering Journey of Three Hairs". They are required to use their imagination to write a story about taking Three Hairs home for a Thanksgiving celebration with 4 illustrations matching the content. Three Hairs is a kind-hearted, homeless boy, a well known character in China.

If you love to read and would like an opportunity to work with our students, please consider volunteering to read with our students.

Mask Mandate

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute §§ 25-1-506, 508, and 516, and other applicable law the Public Health Director for the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment has issued a Public Health Order requiring face coverings to be worn in Public Indoor Spaces within Larimer County in order to control and mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to maintain health care capacity in Larimer County.  The order requires mask-wearing in all public indoor spaces for all individuals 3 years and older regardless of vaccination status. School of Choice Enrollment: School of Choice Enrollment for the 2022-23 school year opens November 1, 2021.  Siblings of current students and CEC staff with students will have one-week priority consideration before we process enrollments received from the general public. All current students will automatically be reenrolled for the 2022-23 school year. Students enrolled in 8th grade for the 2021-22 school year at CECFC West Middle School do not need to enroll in the CECFC HS. They will receive a separate email later in the year with additional instructions on what steps are needed to complete the transition into CECFC HS.

Please gather the following documents to have on hand when completing the enrollment process: ·    Birth Certificate, Passport, or State issued ID ·    Immunization records or exemption ·    Report Card (incoming 6-8th graders)
