Alice Moore
I coordinate the CECPD Leadership Academy for Child Care Center Directors, the Focused Portfolios™ trainings for Directors and Teachers, and requests for CECPD to exhibit at conferences.

Fun fact:  I am proud to be an Oklahoma State University graduate.  I am the Immediate Past President of the Wild West Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals (SGMP).
Dawn Garrison
I assist Alice with event planning and registration for Leadership Academies and Focused Portfolio trainings. I also assist Registry with login id and password phone calls and emails. I manage our Social Media accounts and this newsletter.   

Fun fact: In my spare time; I foster animals for Safe Haven Animal Rescue and juggle 12 hours of college.
Jana Cornelius
is a proud member of our Education Services - Quality Assurance team.  Her role at CECPD involves developing new coursework for CECPD Educators, revising courses already offered by CECPD, instructing CECPD Educators and Oklahoma early childhood practitioners, and evaluating CECPD Educators.  Jana loves her job because it has given her the opportunity to meet some really great people across the state of Oklahoma who are passionate about children and early childhood education.

Fun Fact: 
On her downtime, Jana enjoys spending time with her three sons and her husband, whom she has been married to for 27 years. On any given day, you can catch this simple, country girl riding her horse named "Thunder" or driving her John Deere tractor on her farm in Alex.

New Requirements 
What you need to know about the new requirements

Tier training is no longer referenced in the 2016 version of the licensing requirements. The new training terminology is either formal or informal. The following breakdown is to provide you with guidance

Oklahoma Professional Development Registry (OPDR) Approved organization is the following: CECPD Approved Trainer, CECPD Approved Training Organization, Approved First Aid/CPR sponsors that appear on the CECPD website


Formal & Informal Definitions
  • Formal - unlimited amount of hours can be obtained in this section
    • More than 2 hours from an OPDR approved training organization 

    • OPDR Approved College Coursework

  • Informal - All trainings in the informal category are limited to 6 hours annually 
    •  Less than 2 hours from OPDR approved training organization
    • Any number of hours from an OPDR non-approved training organization
    •  Any training from electronic media, such as Videos or DVDs
2015 Training 
In order to phase out Tier training all training approved by CECPD in 2015 will count towards formal hours in 2016 for the purposes of renewal.  
Spring Fling Book-Give-Away
CECPD is giving away books!  Educators who have completed the "Train the Trainer:  Professional Development Collaborative Courses" will be eligible to enter the CECPD Spring Fling Book-Give-Away. In order to get a free copy of Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards for Early Care and Education Programs, eligible educators will need to teach 10 professional development collaborative courses by May 31, 2016.  If you want to become an eligible educator for the CECPD Spring Fling Book-Give-Away, you can sign up for the "Train the Trainer: Professional Development Collaborative Courses" offered in December and January. Winners will be featured in upcoming Educator newsletters. So don't delay, become eligible for the CECPD Spring Fling Book-Give-Away!

Online Training
Check out CECPD's newest online training:
Preventing Obesity & Promoting Wellness
14 hours / 1.4 CEUs 

This 14-hour, formal approved online training captures insights from more than 80 experts in pediatrics, nutrition, movement, child development, and adult education.  Early childhood programs can lead the way in educating young children and parents on the importance of diet and exercise.

Meet the Team
Continued
Lisa Scott
is our Video Librarian. She is responsible for operating the center's video lending library, which loans videos to child care providers and centers for professional development and to CECPD staff, Educators, and other training facilities for use in training. Lisa also works with the PDAS team members in assisting with any projects, trainings or conferences within CECPD.  

Fun Fact: 
Lisa Scott and her husband were high school sweethearts and have been married for 24 years. Their first date was on April Fool's Day, 28 years ago. 

Nichole DewBerry
is our curriculum writer for CECPD. She is currently revising the Care Courses which include Child Development II, and Behavior and Guidance I; the recently completed Daily Programs for Infants and Toddlers is ready to be piloted by any willing educator. Nichole also works on curriculum for other courses like the online entry level trainings and much more.

Fun Fact: Nichole enjoys sports, especially Track and Field.
