A Letter From Principal Smith

Dear CECW Community,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!!  I am so excited to start the new school year. Please read this newsletter thoroughly, as all the Back-to-School guidance is below.

Many people have inquired about schedules. Although they are up on IC, we are still handing out paper copies on Monday and allowing students to bring in their supplies, meet their teachers, and find their classrooms. Many of the high school classes will be held upstairs this year. Schedule changes will be made within the first two weeks of school. If there is a problem with your student’s schedule, please pick up a schedule change request form during the first week of school from the front office, and Ms. Faye will be handling those as quickly as possible.

Another question that we have received often is whether the students will need their own laptops this year. We are asking that students leave their own technology devices at home this year. We have plenty of Chromebooks for use in the classrooms and students will be checking them out as needed.  Students will not be issued a Chromebook to take home, so their devices will be needed at home.

Please always feel free to reach out with any questions.

See you all Monday!

Ms. Kelly Smith

Greetings From Your Health Office

Welcome to the new school year! I would like to introduce the health office and provide a couple health related reminders. I’m Jen McGlue, the Registered Nurse at CEC. Our health tech is Amanda Atkins. Below is our contact information, please feel free to contact us if you need anything.

Immunizations:
Immunization requirements are strictly enforced by the state of Colorado for school attendance. If you have not already done so, please send us your student’s immunization records or exemptions. Exemptions rules have changed for this school year. You can find the list of required vaccines and the exemption information at https://cdphe.colorado.gov/vaccine-exemptions

Illness Guidelines:
Please don’t send an obviously sick student to school. Please do not send a student to school with any of the following:
Fever over 100 degrees. A student with a fever needs to stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone without using fever reducing medications to lower the fever.
Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours.

Vision and Hearing Screening:
We will be completing hearing and vision screening for 7th graders and all new, incoming students in the fall.  These are non-invasive screenings.  We do not have dates set but will observe safety protocols related to Covid-19.  If you do not want us to screen your new or 7th grade student, please let us know.

Medications:
The health office staff cannot give medications to your student without proper documentation. If your student needs to take medications at school, please contact the health office for the proper forms.

We are excited to see your students and are looking forward to a new school year! Please feel free to contact the health office if you need anything. Stay well!

Kindly,
The CEC Health Office
