A Message from the Counselor

Hello Families of CECW!

Next week, we will be implementing a Mindfulness Initiative schoolwide. What is mindfulness you ask?

Mindfulness is about training yourself to pay attention in a specific way. When a person is mindful, they: (1) focus on the present moment, (2) try not to think about anything that went on in the past or that might be coming up in future, (3) purposefully concentrate on what’s happening around them, and (4) try not to be judgmental about anything they notice, or label things as ‘good’ or ‘bad’. (PositivitePsychology.com)

I am really excited to have students learn and practice this skill. Studies show there is a positive impact on academic performance when students practice mindfulness regularly; they can experience enhanced memory, focus, analytical thinking, and creativity as well as less stress and anxiety, improving emotion regulation skills, and strengthening self-compassion and compassion for others. What more could we ask for, right?

As always, feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns about your student.
Have a great weekend!

A Note from the Nurse

CECW Families,

I hope this winter season is finding you well and healthy. Unfortunately, COVID tests are backed up nationwide; however, below is the link for families who would want tests right now. You will need to click on "order rapid at home tests now," not the one for organizations.

These are most likely very backed up , but HERE is the link if you find yourself in need.

Kindly,
Jen McGlue
