Golden Eagle Families:
As we get closer to winter, and knowing how cold it can get in Colorado, it’s a good time to share the decision-making process about inside or outside recess. We do not have the ability to accommodate inside or outside recess per student choice, as we must keep all lunch groups together.
CEC Windsor always puts student safety first and our preference is that students enjoy outside recess every day possible; however, If the wind chill temperature per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) website for zip code 80528 is below 20 degrees at 11:15am, we will be having inside recess. If more than 1/3 of the playground is covered in ice, we will be having inside recess. If it is actively snowing or raining, we will have inside recess.
We have limited space outside as we can’t utilize “the field” if it is covered in snow. Students must be dressed appropriately if they are to venture into the snow to retrieve playground equipment – footballs, basketballs, frisbees, etc. Dressed appropriately means jackets, pants, beanies, gloves, scarves, shoes or boots, etc. Crocs do not qualify as snowshoes. Throwing snowballs or chunks of ice are not appropriate and will be subject to school discipline.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Molinari or Mrs. Feilmann.”
