A Message from the Principal
CECW Families,
Hello! February started with quite the snowstorm, bringing much needed moisture to Colorado! Unfortunately, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Tuesday and so we will be seeing more winter weather for the next six weeks. Hopefully, crazy snowstorms will only come on the weekends, so we can all go enjoy the mountain skiing.
As many of you already know, Larimer County’s current facemask mandate is scheduled to end on Saturday, February 12th. As a result of this change, CECW will begin to recommend masks, rather than requiring masks, starting on Monday, February 14th. Per county, state, and federal regulations, masks will continue to be required in certain circumstances, including the following:
- Students and staff riding buses. This is still a current federal transportation requirement.
- Students and staff who are in days 6 through 10 of a COVID -19 isolation or quarantine.
- If LCDPHE requires a school wide mask mandate if CECW has a large number of COVID cases reported, masks will be required.
Masks continue to be recommended to assist in the mitigation of increased COVID cases and to address high illness absentee levels.
The current face mask mandate does remain in place until February 12th, so we encourage all students, staff, and visitors without exemptions to continue to wear masks at CECW until that time.
We will continue to update you on all the many changes throughout this pandemic.
Thank you for all your support.
Kelly Smith, Principal CECW
