State Testing: A Letter From Mrs. Feilmann

You should have received the following letter in you email inbox earlier this afternoon:

Dear Golden Eagle parents/guardians,

This year, we are trying something different for CMAS to lessen the impact it has on both students and staff. We know state testing is stressful, so instead of one full week of CMAS testing, we are opting to complete one day of testing each week (on Mondays) beginning March 27th!

Please read the following very carefully, as there are a lot of moving pieces to state testing!

CMAS

Monday, March 27th

ALL middle school students need to arrive by 7:50am for day 1 of CMAS testing

  • Busses will run normally in the morning and afternoon
  • Students are able to be picked up after their final test of the day (schedule below*). Students who are not picked up will be in a study hall until 3pm

ALL high school students will be at home participating in asynchronous remote learning

  • “Asynchronous remote learning” means that students will have an assignment posted on Teams in each class that they must complete to be counted “present” for that class
  • Assignments will be posted by 7:50am and must be turned in by 3pm to be counted present
  • Students in college courses should check with their professor to see what is required for that class

Why are state tests so important?

We highly encourage all students to participate in state testing, as state testing gives students the opportunity to demonstrate what they’ve been learning. These tests are a way to see how well students are connecting with classroom instruction, and it shows them their progress toward mastering grade-level expectations. Students who participate yearly have growth data each year, which is incredibly important data for ensuring positive student outcomes. These tests also show CECW how well we are meeting the needs of our students, and the data gleaned from these tests will allow us to make strategic improvements to instruction to ensure the success of all students. State tests allow for students to see their growth, set goals, and understand where they may need additional support. State tests also allow schools to ensure they are meeting the needs of all students, and they allow districts and authorizers to provide additional support/resources for schools who may need it. FAQs

  • What if my student cannot participate in remote asynchronous learning due to technology concerns? Click HERE to fill out a technology concern form
  • What if my child is ill or cannot come to school for another reason on one or more testing days? Makeup testing will be happening throughout the four weeks as they are needed. Please note it is very difficult to coordinate makeup testing, so student attendance on all testing days is incredibly important.
  • Will there be tutoring on testing days? No, there will be no tutoring on testing Mondays

Please be sure you’ve looked everything over carefully. If you have any questions or concerns once you’ve looked through all the provided materials, please contact me at [email protected].

Happy Testing!

Parent Appreciation

To the Parents/Guardians of our CECW students,

On behalf of the staff at CEC Windsor, we would like to express our gratitude toward you, CEC Parent and/or Guardian, for being a crucial piece of our campus culture! Without the support of the members of our community, Colorado Early Colleges would not be able to continue providing our students a culture that is inclusive and caring.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you do to support our school, staff, and students!

Parent Survey

CEC Windsor Families,

As the 2022-23 school year comes to a close, CEC would like your feedback and observations regarding this past school year. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey attached HERE by March 31st.

Thank you so much for being part of the CEC community!

Reimbursements

If you are a CECW student taking off-campus college courses and the required textbooks are not in our developing bookstore, we offer a reimbursement program on specific dates at the end of each semester. This program is also available for required access codes and laptop reimbursements. Students qualify for textbook reimbursement ONLY with a passing grade C or higher of the course request. Textbook and/or laptop reimbursement is only available to students with remaining voucher dollars.

For more information about our reimbursement program please click HERE. To complete the form, the student must sign into their CEC account to access and complete the form. Scroll to the bottom of webpage and click on CEC Windsor 6-12. All approved reimbursement checks will be mailed by May 12th.

Any further questions, please reach out to Lacey Scadden HERE.

Staff Spotlight

This week, CEC Windsor would like to spotlight Señor Kloeckner, our Spanish and ELL teacher. Mr. Kloeckner was born and raised in Broomfield, CO. He studied at the University of Northern Colorado and was part of the graduating class of 2019. He moved to California in 2020 to attend Bethel Church, but he moved back home in 2021. Some of his hobbies are skiing, playing/listening to music, reading, and finding good coffee shops around town. His favorite coffee drink is an americano, his favorite book is 1984, and his favorite band is Rage Against the Machine. We are so happy to have Mr. Kloeckner as part of our CECW family!
