Staff Spotlight
This week, CECW would like to spotlight Mrs. Amber DeBuhr! Mrs. DeBuhr earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. Although she was born and raised in Southern California and accustomed to the beautiful weather, her sisters relocated to Colorado, prompting her to also seek a new adventure in a different state. She traded the California sunshine for the Colorado snow (and sun!) and she has loved the change in seasons.
Mrs. DeBuhr’s background is rather eclectic-- she has served children and adults with disabilities, worked as a reading and writing instructor and an ELL teacher to students in China as well as an early childhood teacher for the 2-3 year old's classroom. Mrs. DeBuhr has always had a love for adventure and wanted to mix work and travel, so she went through the long application process of becoming a flight attendant. She passed training and her first flight as the pandemic was just beginning, which made flying quite the experience! Although the pandemic did indeed affect air travel, Mrs. DeBuhr flew a lot and definitely got her travel fix.
Mrs. DeBuhr married her wonderful husband, David, in October of 2021 in beautiful Estes Park. After a while, she longed for a slower pace of life and a job that would be conducive to having a family one day. She became a substitute teacher at Colorado Early Colleges Windsor during the 2023 Spring Semester where she was really impressed by the students and academic culture of CEC Windsor.
Mrs. DeBuhr is the 2023-2024 7th and 8th Grade Elevate teacher as well as this year’s Yearbook adviser. She and her husband still travel regularly, sometimes with their two huskies in tow. She is very excited to see what this year has in store and is honored to be a part of the CEC Windsor family!
