A Letter From Principal Smith

Dear CECW Community,
As we near the end of this school year, I wanted to let everyone know how proud I am of each and every one of you. It has taken a huge effort for students, parents, and teachers to navigate through this pandemic and all the trials it has brought with it.
We have had no reports of additional COVID cases, and therefore we will be finishing up our year in-person, learning and celebrating together. Next week will be Finals Week. Please click here for the schedule. We also have the rescheduled Performing Arts concert on Tuesday night, our Summer Kick-Off on Wednesday from 12:15 to 3pm, and 8th Grade Promotion on Thursday night. What an exciting final four days!
Dress Code for Events
Band Concert: Concert Attire
Summer Kick-Off: School Dress Code applies with the exception of the addition of athletic wear and hats. Shorts must be mid-thigh length. Inside activities will require masks. See below for more details.
8th Grade Promotion: Please dress nicely

As this school year comes to a close, we need all CECW books and materials returned to the school. Please have your students check around the house to be sure that no books are hiding under beds or in closets. Books not returned on or before May 12th will be invoiced to the family.
CECW is excited to have the opportunity to provide Summer Camps this year for Math and English Language Arts (ELA). If your student is interested in attending one of our three-week (T, W, Th) summer camps, please see the information below.
Finally, please see the letter below from the League of Charter Schools.

Happy Last Friday of the 2020-2021 School Year!
Ms. Smith
Summer Kick-Off

On the last day of school, May 12th, from 12:15-3pm, Student Council is hosting its first annual Summer Kick-Off to celebrate all the accomplishments of the year!

After completing finals that day, students will have lunch & recess and will then head outside for an afternoon of music/dancing, games, prizes, food, and FUN!

There are no cohorts for this event, so all students and grade levels can mingle as long as they remain socially distant! We will have several stations for students to choose from, so they may wander from station to station as they see fit:
  • Badminton
  • Spike Ball
  • Cornhole
  • Obstacle Course
  • DJ & Dance Floor
  • Photo Booth
  • Food & Beverage Station
  • Tug-of-War Competition

The dress code for this day has been relaxed. Students are permitted to wear the following items only on Wednesday, May 12th:
  • Shorts (all shorts must be to at least mid-thigh)
  • Sweats
  • Hats

At 3pm, students will be released and busses will run normally.

Please ensure that your students have returned every book that has been checked out to them. Books should be returned ASAP so that we may get all our books accounted for. ALL checked out books must be returned to CECW by Wednesday, May 12th. You will be billed for all books not returned by this date. The sooner books are returned, the better!
Act Now! Anti-Charter Bill Introduced

CECW Community,

A piece of legislation was introduced this week, and we wanted you to be aware of its impact on our school and other charter schools across Colorado.

In order to stop this proposal (HB21-1295 - from moving forward, it is important that State Representatives hear from you, our families, and our staff. We don’t ask you to do this often, so when we do, it’s because it’s important.
Reaching out will take less than two minutes, and our partner, the Colorado League of Charter Schools, has made it easy for you to speak up by putting together a sample letter and contact information that you can easily send from your phone or computer. Click HERE to join us in taking action now!

In-Person Learning Reminders

Students need the following items daily:

  • Masks – It is a good idea to have more than one mask, just in case there is a sneeze inside it, it gets dropped at recess, etc.
  • Water Bottles – the drinking fountains are still not available, but the water bottle fillers will be accessible.
  • Their own technology devices – we are hopeful to have devices on campus for the students to use soon, but the delivery date of this technology is still not known.
  • All textbooks and supplies - For the majority of classes, books, notebooks, and supplies will now be kept in the classroom and students will use online resources for homework.

Each student must continue to be screened before entering the building. Please fill out the self-screening form found here or use the QR code to access this each morning by 7:15 am. This will give us time to print the list for the check-in process. If you cannot complete the self-screener electronically, please print this form, complete the survey, and send it to school each morning with your student.

Students that have any of the following symptoms need to stay home and join their classes remotely via Teams:
  • Fever or chills
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Please call or email Ms. Stephanie Krafft, Attendance Clerk, to report all absences (including when a student will be remote learning, unless you have chosen the fully remote option for the remainder of the semester).
