BROKEN GIANTS

Watercolor - Magic happens when pigment mixes with water...
"It swims, swirls and makes me smile", states Linda.

Come on a journey with Linda as she shares her travel sketchbooks from around the country and abroad. Be inspired to capture your own Life memories in a way that you’ll treasure forever.

There’ll be opportunity throughout the day to have hands on experience with Linda, to practice your watercolor washes and talk about how to begin your own travel journals/sketchbooks.

From the hill towns of Italy to the hill country of Texas, Linda enjoys soaking up the ambiance, gathering elements of a composition and…sketching. Adding observations and notes about the experience cements the memory.

OIL PAINTING - "I have a wide diversity in my own art but am still called back to where I got my start … early and Native American still life ..."

Donald Darst is a nationally recognized oil painter, gallery owner and art coach.  As Don says, “I have a wide diversity in my own art, at least in subject and a bit in style.

I teach oil painting and to be able to help my students, I do a lot of different art. But even with all the art I do, I am still called back to where I got my start, early and Native American still life, and to my second passion, subtle even spiritual landscapes inspired by George Inness and the art of the Hudson River School. “

PASTELS - "I am blessed to be able to find the beauty in almost everything I see ..."

Rita Kirkman is known for her prolific production of small ranch animal paintings. She applies her pastel over a value toned underpainting of acrylic-based pastel primers. "It's all about the light!" says Kirkman. Using warm tones under her pastels helps her capture the glow of sunlight and a vividness achieved through contrasting color temperatures.

Rita is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and among many awards, is the recipient of the Master Circle Award from the International Association of Pastel Societies. In recent years, Rita has become a popular workshop instructor.
