Springtime in Atlantic Canada—is there any better feeling than this time of year? For many, it signals renewal, new growth and re-energization as we leave the winter months behind. In this spirit, I would like to take moment to thank the staff, boards and countless volunteers within our network of 93 chambers and boards of trade. You are a constant source of inspiration and we are grateful for members like you, who make our work truly rewarding.

  • New corporate partners reviewed and approved: Air Canada, CAPP, and Narrative Research (formerly CRA)

  • 2019 ACC PD Day & AGM Agenda reviewed and approved.

  • New Board KPI Scorecard reviewed and approved.


A Chamber Feature Moment

ACC recently launched a survey to our member chamber executives (staff and/or board chair) asking them to highlight unique aspects of their Chamber, events, or of members that the general business community may not be aware. ACC is creating unique ad profiles that it will then promote to the Atlantic Canadian business community.

Democracy in Action - Atlantic Canada is in election mode, with two provincial elections taking place and a Federal election in the fall:
April 23, 2019 – PE General Election
May 16, 2019 – NL General Election
October 21, 2019 – Canada Federal Election
ACC will be working with Chambers in NL and PE on election messages, priorities and activities, as well as working CCC and the provincial CEOs with our national network on Federal priorities to ensure the needs of Atlantic Canada are brought forward. ACC’s Voice for Business
Policy Submissions - ACC continues to put forth positions in a number of areas of concern for out member Chambers and business in Atlantic Canada. Recently, ACC has launched and distributed our 2019 Policy Pillars for Growth and submitted a letter to the Minister of Transport, expressing concerns regarding the need to extend consultations on the proposed Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR). Provincial Matters - ACC continues to analyze and provide perspective on provincial matters, including the recently released Federal and provincial budgets in NS, NB and NL. Visit ACC’s Press Announcements to learn more.
ACC’s PAC and All Chamber’s Meetings

March 27, 2019 - ACC held meetings of the NB PAC with (6 PAC members in attendance) and for all NB Chambers with (10 Chambers present). The NB PAC discussed the provincial budget, tax reform, WorkSafe Premiums, carbon pricing, and transportation infrastructure. For details, please see this months ACCion News .

During the All NB Chambers meeting, attendees heard from Opportunities NB (ONB) with an overview of the agency and its ONB Connects program , as well as Xplornet discussing rural cellphone and internet access. For details, please see this months ACCion News .
April 3, 2019 - ACC held meetings of the NS PAC with (7 PAC members in attendance) and for all NS Chambers (with 15 Chambers present). The NS PAC discussed Northern Pulp, Alton Gas, closure of the RCMP Dispatch Call Centre, support for aquaculture operations in rural communities, and the need to encourage amalgamation of municipal governance and operations. The All NS Chambers meeting hosted presentations on Northern Pulp’s operations and economic impact in the province, on building business partnerships with First Nations, and initiatives in Yarmouth to improve doctor recruitment. For details, please see this months ACCion News .

  • March 27, 2019 - ACC participated in the launch of the PEI Partnership for Growth

  • April 5, 2019 - ACC attended the Saint John Region Chambers 200th Anniversary Luncheon

  • April 17, 2019 – ACC attended Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick & ONB luncheon with guest speaker, Her Excellency Karen Rispal, Ambassador of France to Canada.

  • April 25, 2019 – ACC presented to the Senate Committee for Energy, The Environment & Natural Resources on Bill C-69

  • May 1, 2019 – ACC will attend the ACEC-NB Awards

  • May 9, 2019 – ACC will attend Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEO awards

The CCC & CCEC AGMs are the Chamber networks event of the year. This year it is in our region, so we are counting on a large contingent of CCC/CCEC/ACC members to represent and showcase our wonderful hometown Atlantic Canadian pride, spirit, and community successes.
