June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Month

Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) recognizes June as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. It is an important time to reduce stigma and raise public awareness. PTSD is a mental health condition that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, like combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, or sexual assault. Anyone can develop PTSD at any age. Veterans, survivors of violence, and emergency responders are at an increased risk, along with individuals with a history of mental health conditions or prior trauma.

Library

The month of June heralds the beginning of the Summer Reading Program (SRP). Many adults might remember reading for enough points to get a gift certificate for a personal pizza, but SRP has grown into so much more than that. It is a way to continue literacy of all sorts through the summer months by offering programs in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). The Library offers a bridge to learning through fun events as well as addressing the lack of access to services such as free school lunches. More on how Mendocino County Library is bridging the gap during the summer is explored below. Click HERE to read more...

Planning and Building

The Department is currently in the process of revamping our front counter operations by moving to a station approach, which we believe will enhance the customer experience and provide for more complete permit submittals. We are also in the midst of transitioning to digitized permit submittals with a small remodel to our front counter area to accommodate a scanner that can easily scan the large submittal packets that we receive for building permits.

The Department continues to focus on process improvements and posts monthly metric reports on the Planning and Building Services Department webpage. The metrics are separated by division. Please go to https://www.mendocinocounty.gov/departments/planning-building-services/metrics-and-permits for the latest metrics. Click HERE to read more...
