OPG contracts SNC-Lavalin’s PRECISE tool for Darlington nuclear station
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has awarded a contract to Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin for the first commercial deployment of a newly developed nuclear reactor inspection tool, dubbed Pressure Tube Circumferential Sampling Equipment (PRECISE).
The contract entails the detailed design, fabrication, manufacturing and deployment of the new tool at OPG’s Darlington nuclear generating station, starting early next year. SNC-Lavalin has developed PRECISE to take samples of reactor core materials, allowing for in situ life assessment of the pressure boundary material of the fuel channel assemblies.

Connecting Communities a Framework to Keep Mississauga Moving
Clarkson, Port Credit and Lakeview are also unique and have a history that extends far beyond the creation of Mississauga in 1974. But what links these communities is Lakeshore Rd., a busy thoroughfare that stretches from one end of the city to the other and serves as an essential transportation route that will only get busier in the years to come as the population increases.
HDR Corporation was tasked by the City of Mississauga to provide a framework to improve the people moving capability of the corridor while connecting the three communities and preserving and enhancing their unique characters.

A Rising Tide - The Economic Impact of B.C.’s Liquified Natural Gas Industry
B.C. is becoming the focal point for a new Canadian industry— liquefied natural gas (LNG). Canada produces almost twice as much natural gas as it uses. Liquefying and exporting natural gas offers an important diversification opportunity, especially when our traditional export market—the United States—is becoming increasingly self-sufficient. LNG-based natural gas prices in Asia-Pacific markets have been higher than North American prices for over a decade. Moving Canadian natural gas into those markets could provide Canadian
natural gas producers and LNG investors with higher returns.
This report by the Conference Board of Canada highlights important factors regarding the economic impact of liquefied natural gas to Canada.
