The Agreement is a pro forma contract for professional services between consulting engineering firms and municipal clients that establishes mutually acceptable terms and conditions. Amendments to Ontario’s 2012 Building Code Webinars
On May 2, 2019, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) amended the Building Code regulation (O. Reg 332/12). The majority of the amendments will come into effect on January 1st, 2020.
To help provide an overview of the amendments, the Building and Development Branch is hosting six information sessions scheduled throughout November 19 – December 5, 2019. MTO Webinar | Update on general conditions: prompt payment, contractor requests, and dispute resolution
On November 21, 2019 from 11am - 12pm the Contract Management and Operations Branch Office will be hosting a webinar to MTO staff and stakeholders including industry, contractors, consultants, and service providers.
The webinar will provide an update of recent changes to MTO General Conditions related to prompt payment, contractor requests, and dispute resolution. Changes took effect on all contracts advertised after October 1, 2019.
MEA is hosting their 60th Annual Fall Workshop and AGM on November 26-29, 2019 at Blue Mountain Resort. This year, the MEA Workshop’s theme of “For All Seasons” is about the meaning of being a smaller municipality geared towards the tourism industry providing amenities for people of all ages and abilities.
This 3-hour course, on December 4th from 6pm - 9pm, will teach practical knowledge of contracts in the engineering profession. We will discuss key contract terms such as scope of work, payment methods, performance period, delay, payment and termination. In addition, we will review the law of contracts, which includes a discussion of offer, acceptance, intent, consideration, legality, breach of contract and enforcement.

Ontario investing in Kenora urban Indigenous infrastructure
Ontario's government is supporting Indigenous communities by investing in economic capital projects that support skills training and economic development.
The province announced funding for the Ne-Chee Friendship Centre in Kenora through the Indigenous Community Capital Grants Program. Ontario is providing more than $175,000 to support renovations at the downtown Friendship Centre, which serves as a hub for urban Indigenous cultural programming and community events in the Kenora area.
