We invite our member firms to showcase their consulting engineering efforts by entering projects they have worked on over the year.The OCEA program highlights the importance of the consulting engineering profession by awarding the most outstanding projects submitted. The winners and finalists will be announced at our OCEA Gala on May 1, 2019.
ORCGA’s Geographic Councils hold 13 meetings across the province, twice yearly. The purpose of these meetings is to deliver a consistent message of “damage prevention is a shared responsibility”. These meetings help you connect and network with local communities to discuss and promote damage prevention, Best Practices, and local developing issues.

Engineers Canada Sustainability in Practice Online Course
Engineers Canada and Polytechnique Montréal have once again teamed up to offer the third edition of their successful free online course, Sustainability in Practice.
The massive open online course uses real-life case studies from across Canada to demonstrate the practical application of Engineers Canada’s 10 guidelines on sustainable development and environmental stewardship for engineers. The course is delivered in four modules and is offered in both English and French.
MEA is hosting their 60th Annual Fall Workshop and AGM on November 26-29, 2019 at Blue Mountain Resort. This year, the MEA Workshop’s theme of “For All Seasons” is about the meaning of being a smaller municipality geared towards the tourism industry providing amenities for people of all ages and abilities.
This 3-hour course, on December 4th from 6pm - 9pm, will teach practical knowledge of contracts in the engineering profession. We will discuss key contract terms such as scope of work, payment methods, performance period, delay, payment and termination. In addition, we will review the law of contracts, which includes a discussion of offer, acceptance, intent, consideration, legality, breach of contract and enforcement.

The multifaceted renovation and expansion project involves a new 32-storey residential apartment tower adjacent to an existing office, retail and residential building, the addition of six new floors above the existing structure, including the two dedicated amenity floors, a new mechanical penthouse, as well as structural upgrades throughout the existing building. The completed project will offer a total of 495 apartment residents premium rental living.
October 29th marked a significant step in the unprecedented First Nations-led Wataynikaneyap (Watay) Power Transmission Project connecting remote First Nation communities to Ontario's power grid.
With a projected completion date by the end of 2023, the Watay Power Project will be the largest Indigenous-led infrastructure project in Canada, and most far-reaching First Nations grid connection in Ontario's history. When complete, the project will provide over 14,000 First Nations people in northwestern Ontario with a clean, reliable and affordable supply of electricity.

Ray Osmond, Orangeville’s general manager of community services, estimates the Alder Street recreation centre, Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre and the Mill Street library branch will require an estimated $4.9 million, $2.7 million and $2.5 million in upgrades respectively within the next two to three years.
Credit Valley Conservation receives $175,000 for stormwater management study
Credit Valley Conservation has secured funding to start a stormwater management study for the area of Mississauga Southdown.
The $175,000 was provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, with $34,500 coming from the Region of Peel and $20,000 from the city. The funding will allow Credit Valley Conservation to assess shared stormwater systems on both public and private properties and identify the economic cost through low-impact development and green infrastructure practices.
