In a recent email to you, I wrote how encouraged I was when SCE took time to respond in advance to some of my questions prior to the Community Engagement Panel meeting last Thursday. No response to the important follow up questions as yet.
Meanwhile the CEP meeting took place and I might have been a little too optimistic on how things would go.

I wasn't able to show the revealing 3 minute video that might have been uncomfortable for SCE. It was from the very same report they were quoting from. They could have just allowed me to share my screen but let's just chalk that up to inexperience with running Microsoft Team software.
Here is what the CEP Panel missed.

As Teri Sforza of the Orange County Register accurately put it, I was disappointed. I was also disappointed that she overlooked using any of the graphics I provided her with to validate our concerns, but at least she noted there was some pushback from the community.
The fact that the California Ocean Protection Council advised that advancing water intrusion can damage pipes, roadways, and basements, was completely ignored. Instead we were given anecdotal reassurances that water intrusion could not possibly occur at SONGS. We need more scientific research to reach that conclusion. Please sign the petitions below to insist on more analysis and planning.

I was also disappointed that a gouged canister issue was so quickly glossed over in the meeting. Listen to this 2 minute video with the man who oversaw production of the canisters at San Onofre. His warning about Canister #19 is truly frightening. Can we please get a detailed status report on #19, using state of the art technology that is now available?

Another important question: Can we get an update on this damaged canister and an explanation for what we are seeing? Has it been repaired by the robotic metallic coating system Edison says is so reliable? If not, why not?

It is important to hear how Edison responds. Aside from my disappointments I am still cautiously optimistic about having more productive and meaningful dialog to make the most of whatever time is left before something terrible happens. They are looking into modifying the format of future CEP meetings, so let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Gary
