Abstract-

With the phenomenal rise of mobile devices & smart phones globally in the past few years, we have now entered the digital age – the agricultural age, the scientific age, the industrial age, the information age and now the mobile age! Move over chalk & slate, paper & pencil, keyboards & laptops, here comes “swish, swipe & tap” on a mobile device. “Beam me up Scotty!”

In this talk, I will walk through Mobile Health case studies and implementation experiences from around the globe. The talk with touch upon a wide-ranging topics and applications.

The examples will demonstrate how health problems of today’s information society and the needs of data and knowledge intense heterogeneous but STANDARDS based healthcare solutions are being met by bleeding-edge mobile solutions that were in the cradle of research till recently. Will introduce the emerging Healthcare Digital Health standard (HL7 FHIR) that is spreading like “fire” all across the globe!

Improving Performance of an Old PC

Many of us have too many old PCs laying around. As Windows 10 advances, the PCs get slower. There are alternatives to try before changing the OS to Linux, using them as controllers, donating, or selling them on eBay.

Some options are:

Check to see if you can increase the RAM. 4GB is marginal these days.

Two windows settings that have a dramatic impact on older PC’s performance are:

1. Optimize performance. See the screenshot below showing how this is be done.

2. Restrict the number of apps which run in the background. See the screenshot below showing how this is be done.

These adjustments may extend your PCs life an extra year or two if you are just using it for home office work. -DF
