United Launch Alliance- The Power of Software in an Evolving Launch Industry

by Kurt Meister and Rob Case

ULA is transforming the future of space launch, and electrical and software engineers play a critical role in designing the systems that will change how we get to space. Modern software tools and practices are enabling new frontiers in rocket development. Kurt Meister, Software Manager, and Rob Chase, Software Developer, will talk about how electrical and software engineering are accelerating missions to explore the solar system, improve communications for our military, predict the weather, and safely launch astronauts on their way to the International Space Station.

ANTI MONEY LAUNDERING IN DISTRIBUTED LEDGER TECHNOLOGY

by Hussien Hassen
Nontrade financial transactions that cross a border and do not route through traditional banking channels provoke economic instability in a given country. However, the rise of transaction laundering into prominence demanded strict banking regulatory enforcement action. The high banking transaction cost and rigidity of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) governance structure are the impetus of business users to seek alternative operations. Stealthy shadow banks are persistent as a medium for money laundering, corruption, and terrorism financing for a cyber attack against existing transaction systems. This presentation will identify the detection and investigation of transaction laundering to combat terrorism financing and corruption. We will use the whole of government approach to support AML activities by deploying distributed ledger technology across existing services to significantly improve foreign exchange earnings of countries. Quantum Computing
Are you interested in tangling up your sleeves and leaping into quantum computing?   IBM® and Microsoft® have released free developer's kits for quantum computing.

IBM introduced Qiskit, which allows the user to easily design experiments and run them on simulators and real quantum computers. Qiskit supports Anaconda Python and utilizes the VC++ runtime environment for Windows. https://qiskit.org/ IBM has quantum computers available on the cloud at https://quantumexperience.ng.bluemix.net/qx/editor .

Microsoft has introduced a language called Q# for programming quantum computers. The code runs on a local simulated quantum computer with up to 30 qubits. They provide a downloadable programming environment, source, guides and examples. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/quantum/development-kit
