Martin Knauss & UW's School of Energy Resources and College of Engineering and Physical Sciences are hosting a competition that will include 3 separate trips around the state over the span of four days in the month of November 2022. Students will check out 9H Research Foundation’s solar panels, the wind farm in Medicine Bow, True oil rigs, L and H manufacturing, and Peabody’s coal mine. The trip will end with students writing a report about their experience and possible research to benefit the industry for a possible cash prize!

Join Tylynn Smith in the EERB Atrium Tuesday, November 8th at 4:30 as she hopes to connect with students on how to be a successful student and a young professional.
Tylynn graduated from UW with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 2017. She started her career with Shell as a Drilling Engineer for the Gulf of Mexico. In 2019 she moved into a Field Engineer role on a drill ship in the Gulf performing drilling, completion, and intervention operations offshore. In August of 2022 Tylynn took the opportunity to transfer her offshore experience to the renewables space and is currently supporting Shell Offshore Wind development projects for the Americas.

Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Co-op - Chemtrade
This position is directly involved in assisting the engineering team at the Riverton plant with their daily activities. The primary focus of the co-op will be plant reliability with an emphasis on safety, process improvements, documentation, and small project management. Lead Technician - Western Research Institute Laramie, WY
The Lead Technician position is centered around discovery and characterization of new alternative non-petroleum based asphalt binders and has aspects related to recycling, upcycling and circular economy.
The focus of the Lead Technician will include:
- Loading, assembling and disassembling and cleaning of reactors using a fluidized sand bath, autoclaves and other reactors which require high temperature and high pressure experiments and equipment
- Experiments and sample testing using analytical testing and mechanical physical testing equipment
- Proper cataloguing, preserving, and shipping of samples
- Mixing and pouring of hot asphalt, high shear mixing and of hot asphalt and other blending
- Performing distillations, filtrations, solvent extractions, solubility tests, and solvent removal using a rotary evaporator
- Performing organic synthesis
- Participating with other team members in assessing solutions to experimental designs and testing issues
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of experimental apparatuses and laboratory equipment, as necessary
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, or closely related field (Associate’s degree with relevant lab experience will be considered) and lab research experience, including work with high temperature experiments.

Field Operations Technician - Crusoe Energy

Mechanical/Plumbing Engineer: BSME or BSAE from an ABET accredited engineering program, with an EIT or PE license, and experience in the engineering and design of plumbing and/or HVAC systems for commercial, light commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities. Responsibilities include complete performance of engineering tasks, including load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork and piping design, economic analysis, project management. An ability to communicate effectively with owners, contractors and other design team members is essential for success in this position. Candidates with Revit and/or AutoCad are preferred.
