Check and test your smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors.

Replace the batteries or if detectors are more than 10 years old replace them.

Update your family's fire escape plans and practice a family fire drill

Tsunami Awareness Week

March 23 - 30

PREPARE NOW

If you live near, or regularly visit a coastal area, learn about the risk of tsunami in the area. Some at-risk communities have maps with evacuation zones and routes. If you are a visitor, ask about community plans.
Learn the signs of a potential tsunami, such as an earthquake, a loud roar from the ocean, or unusual ocean behavior, such as a sudden rise or wall of water or sudden draining of water showing the ocean floor.

During this event we will cover how to navigate the CERT online training, upcoming weekly "office hours" starting in April and when the hands-on skills day will happen as well as an opportunity for you to ask questions and meet your CERT Coordinators for Burlingame, Hillsborough and Millbrae. Whether you have already started the CERT online training or are interested in getting started with the CERT program you won't want to miss this opportunity!

CERT Hybrid Training Online

Now you can complete most of the free CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training in the comfort of your own home. This comprehensive course will teach you skills that enable you to help yourself, your family and others during large and small emergencies.

The Central County Fire Department invites you to sign up here for Online Hybrid CERT Training, which allows you to meet the lecture portion of the training requirements online. To get started, register online here . You will then be provided a link to the online course that you can begin anytime and complete at your own pace.

CCFD provides free emergency preparedness training for individuals, neighborhood groups and community‐based organizations in Burlingame, Hillsborough and Millbrae. The CCFD CERT Program teaches self‐reliance skills that enable neighborhoods to establish response teams that help during emergencies until professional help arrives.
