July 2024

Key Takeaways

WTI prompt month closed at $82.21/barrel on Friday, down 1.14% week over week, while Brent closed at $85.03/barrel, down 1.74% from the week prior. Crude futures pricing decreased slightly week-over-week mostly because of decreasing demand in China. Demand growth elsewhere, however, is still present, which largely offsets any significant price movement. The natural gas prompt month ticked up slightly week-over-week despite significant movement through the week, as above average storage build cooled the demand impacts of a heat wave across much of the U.S. The NEPOOL 12-month electricity strip decreased just 0.41% week-over-week to land at $62.45/MWh. The calendar year strips followed suit, with all three years decreasing just slightly week-over-week. FERC approved the second phase of ISO-NE's Long-Term Planning Process.

Offshore Wind in New England

By Charlotte del Col, Associate Manager of Analytics

Offshore wind energy is a complex and often polarizing technology, but it also has incredible potential to meet renewable energy goals and has become a critical part of many renewable energy roadmaps and state renewable portfolio standards (RPS).1 China currently has the largest number of online offshore wind turbines by country, with more than a quarter of total global capacity. China also has plans to add an average of 2.8 gigawatts ("GW") of offshore....

CES Volunteer Day Leo J. Monty Scholarship Golf Tournament

On Tuesday, June 25, Competitive Energy Services (CES) participated in the 2024 Annual Leo J. Monty Scholarship Golf Tournament, hosted by the Association for Facilities Engineering (Chapter 33), a professional membership organization serving professionals working in the built environment. CES Volunteer Day Partners for World Health

Fourteen Competitive Energy Services' team members recently donated their time and energy (no pun intended!) by volunteering, once again, at Portland-based Partners for World Health (PWH), as part of CES Volunteer Day. The CES crew helped sort, evaluate, and prepare medical supplies and equipment for distribution to individuals, communities, and healthcare facilities in need. PWH collects thousands of pounds of medical supplies every day, all of which need to be evaluated, sorted, and repacked before being sent to underserved populations in the developing world.

CES is committed to giving back to the community and offers team building events for employees throughout the year and provides each employee with volunteer hours that may be used to support organizations close to their hearts in the communities in which they live and work.

CES thanks the folks at Partners for World Health for another memorable volunteer experience – and for the work that you do that makes an impact across the globe.
