CES Road Trip Timber HP Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
|
Andrew Price and Richard Silkman from Competitive Energy Services were among the attendees at a ceremony celebrating the start of operations at TimberHP – a new wood fiber insulation manufacturer in Madison Maine.
TimberHP purchased the former Madison Paper Industries mill that closed in 2016. TimberHP invested $150 million to renovate the mill and prepare it to manufacture wood-fiber insulation for both residential and commercial markets.
TimberHP is the first in the US to make wood fiber insulation at scale and will offer several products including loose fill blown-in insulation, insulation batts and fiber board insulation. TimberHP’s insulation has a much lower carbon footprint than traditional insulation products while at the same time providing similar or superior thermal, acoustic, and fire safety performance. The insulation manufactured by TimberHP comes from sustainably harvested wood and reduces greenhouse gas emissions through its ability to store carbon and reduce energy loss.
The HP in TimberHP’s name stands for High Performance, Healthy Planet and Healthy People and the company is living up to these lofty goals.
According to Andrew Price, President of Competitive Energy Services: “After advising Madison Paper Industries on energy issues for more than a decade, it is great to see this mill given a second life. The insulation being produced here will be in high demand as the building industry looks for affordable ways to reduce its carbon footprint. We are very proud to be supporting the talented team at TimberHP. Co-founder Joshua Henry is a visionary, and I am truly amazed at what he and the TimberHP team have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time.”

CES Volunteer Day Partners for World Health
|
On Friday, September 22, several CES Team members volunteered their time at Portland-based Partners for World Health (PWH). For a second consecutive year, the CES crew helped sort, evaluate, and prepare medical supplies and equipment for distribution to individuals, communities, and healthcare facilities in need. PWH collects thousands of pounds of medical supplies every day, all of which need to be evaluated, sorted, and repacked before being sent to underserved populations in the developing world.
CES is committed to giving back to the community and offers team building events for employees throughout the year and provides each employee with volunteer hours that may be used to support organizations close to their hearts in the communities in which they live and work.
CES thanks the folks at Partners for World Health for a great experience – and for the work that you do that makes an impact across the globe.

All We Can Save: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis
Edited by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson & Katharine K. Wilkinson
There is a renaissance blooming in the climate movement: leadership that is more characteristically feminine and more faithfully feminist, rooted in compassion, connection, creativity, and collaboration. All We Can Save illuminates the expertise and insights of dozens of diverse women leading on climate in the United States—scientists, journalists, farmers, lawyers, teachers, activists, innovators, wonks, and designers, across generations, geographies, and race—and aims to advance a more representative, nuanced, and solution-oriented public conversation on the climate crisis. These women offer a spectrum of ideas and insights for how we can rapidly, radically reshape society. Intermixing essays with poetry and art, this book is both a balm and a guide for knowing and holding what has been done to the world, while bolstering our resolve never to give up on one another or our collective future. This book is a collection and celebration of visionaries who are leading us on a path toward all we can save. (Excerpts from an Amazon.com Review)
