Veganism from Extreme to Mainstream
Nina Gheihman’s Work on the Shifting Culture of Consumption

In her upcoming book, How It All Vegan, Nina Gheihman Ph.D. '20 illustrates how veganism transformed from an extreme movement into mainstream culture through entrepreneurship.

Gheihman’s research, which was partially funded by CES, has charted not only how veganism became a high-profile, elite trend, but also how the concept of eating “plant-based” has been integrated into day-to-day life.
Max Goplerud received his Ph.D. from Harvard's Department of Government in 2020. At CES, he was a Graduate Student Affiliate and Co-chair of the Seminar on Populism. CES spoke to him about finalizing his dissertation during the pandemic and his plans for the future.

2020   Graduate Fellowship Recipients
Supporting the work of graduate students and nurturing their innovative scholarship on Europe is central to the mission of CES. This year, CES awarded fellowships to 17 students. CES congratulates these scholars whose diverse work is showcased below.
