Congrats Lynsie Maynard - Outstanding Elementary Art Educator!
The Art Educators of Iowa is pleased to announce Lynsie Maynard of Cedar Falls is 2017-2018 Outstanding Elementary Art Educator. This prestigious award, determined through a peer review of nominations, recognizes outstanding achievement and contributions in previous years to the field of art education at the elementary level.

Fellow art teacher, Hanna Thuesen identifies Lynsie as a leader in the field. "She is continually thinking about what is best for our students and doesn't lose sight of the type of artists and thinkers we are trying to produce. She is a leader with students, is truly a compassionate teacher and creates interventions, enrichments and side projects so each student can do their best, and is challenged creatively."

Mr. Brian Ortman, Principal at Cedar
Cedar Falls elementary art teachers have fun congratulating Lynsie Maynard!
Heights Elementary, expressed  how she connects students with the art world. "Lynsie challenges her students to take advantage of the many art opportunities Cedar Falls and the Cedar  Valley have to offer and connect with art in a variety of ways. Students are challenged to attend art exhibits, research artists, write a poem about a piece, or any other a ctivity that engages them in the art world. Students who complete at least ten activities are honored at an end of year assembly. I believe that these students gain much more than an award, they start to develop a lifelong love of the arts."

Lynsie truly exemplifies a love of the arts as a professional art educator. Her work in the classroom, advocacy for her program and students, collaborating with colleagues and peers within her community and pursuing her own passion for learning as a life-long learner are only part of her commitment to our profession.
