Renew and Recharge with the changes of Fall at

CFA KBCC.

This fall marks an exciting milestone as we proudly celebrate the launch of Cohort 20! What an incredible achievement for the CUNY Fatherhood Academy at Kingsborough Community College to have successfully hosted 20 High School Equivalency cohorts since its inception in 2016!

This transformative program has been nothing short of life-changing for countless fathers and their families, offering invaluable resources and support—completely free of charge! As we look forward to our winter 10-year anniversary celebration, we warmly invite all alumni to join in the festivities and reflect on the remarkable journeys and accomplishments of each cohort.

Cohort 20 is already off to a fantastic start, featuring a vibrant and diverse group of fathers who are taking proactive steps toward their future with scheduled GED exams on the horizon. Let’s continue to build this amazing community together!

CFA KBCC Where Fathers are free to dream...

In city streets where dreams are born,

Where burdens heavy are often worn,

A light shine through each striving man—

It’s found within a steadfast plan.

At CUNY’s heart, a space was made,

For fathers young, not to be swayed

By life’s sharp turns or past regrets—

But build a new, with no regrets.

They gather not just seeking books,

But wisdom found in second looks—

At whom they are, and who they’ll be,

For sons and daughters yet to see.

A brotherhood of rising flame,

Of fathers learning, free from shame.

With mentors guiding every stride,

They walk with purpose, strength, and pride.

GEDs and college dreams,

Entrepreneurial-minded schemes,

Parenting with voice and grace—

Each man empowered, in his place.

For in this hall, they redefine

What it means to rise, to climb,

To lead with love, to break the chain—

To shield their kids from needless pain.

So, here’s to those who dare believe,

That change is something we achieve.

The CUNY Fatherhood Academy—

Where growth begins, and men are free.

CFA ALUMNI IN THE COMMUNITY.

In September the national fatherhood initiative encouraged the promotion of local schools and school districts to spread awareness on the fathers take you Children to School event that takes place in mid-Septemner.

This community engagement movement encourage fathers and male guardians and role models to continue to take an active role in their children's education, as simple as taking them to school.

As a recognized community partner KBCC CFA staff and alum were invited to speak to a group of fathers/guardians and their children at the annual initiative breakfast at the Middle School for Art and Philosophy in East Flatbush Brooklyn.

The school recognized program director Kymel Yard for his community engagement as the director of KBCC CFA, Felicia Smith as the alumni coordinator for her participation in community outreach on behalf of the program, and alum Kavon Marshall who participated to attend that event on behalf of all program alumni.

It always an honor for our staff to represent this program and be active members of the community and our alumni also are leading by example and choosing to be ambassadors of this program once they have graduated.
