CFA TEAM ADVOCATES FOR STATE FUNDING FOR SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTERS

Last Friday, seven members of the CFA team testified in favor of School-Based Health Center funding before the Health Subcommittee of the General Assembly Appropriations Committee. The hearing focused on the proposed budget for fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27.

In fiscal year 2024 CFA received one time federal funding to establish 9 new school based health centers in eastern CT. Thanks to that funding, we were able to serve nearly 8000 students across those 9 schools in Groton, Ledyard, and Stonington. Without continued funding, our health centers will be forced to close after fiscal year 2026.

Our team emphasized the importance of preventive and mental health services provided by SBHCs and the need for increased funding. Many staff waited hours

for the opportunity to speak. Our CEO, Lisa Otto, spoke at 1:50 AM, a testament

to the dedication of our entire team, and the critical needs met by the services

they provide.

Please contact your State legislators to keep these School-Based Health Centers open!
