Unity in the Spirit

One of the themes of the Pentecost season is unity. “And they were all together with one accord, in one place.” Acts 2:1b (NKJV) Later, in Acts 2 it states, “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common.” (Acts 2:44). The outpouring of the Spirit of God resulted in genuine love, generosity, and unity.

How was this unity manifested in the early church? They were sensitive to those in need and gave willingly of their substance. How was unity manifested? It was demonstrated through their connecting with one another in loving fellowship, prayer, and the Word of God. All the ingredients that existed then are still at work among us now.

The Spirit of God is at work within Christian Faith Baptist Church! But, I must not be narrow minded. The Spirit of God is at work within the world. As believers, we must continue to strive for unity. With discord and contention in our world, we have an opportunity through the power of the Spirit to be “salt and light” to the world. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit would empower us “to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:3-6, NKJV)

Prayer For Our Sick & Shut-In

Lord, your Word speaks promises of healing and restoration, and we thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today we claim those promises over our sick & shut in. We believe in the healing power of faith and prayer, and we ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of each of them. Lord, please reach down and surround our sick & shut-in families with supernatural peace and strength and give them the faith to believe that all things are possible for you. Amen

Our sick and shut-in: Mrs. Eleanor Ballard, Rev. Charles Brown, Deacon George Debnam, Mr. James Hawkins, Mr. Chris Hinton, Mrs. Rowan McCullers, Ms. Roberta Sanders, Ms. Denise Snipes, Rev. Grady Tripp, Mrs. Charity Hines Stanback, and Mr. Everett Christmas Sr, Nelson Walker, and others who are not listed.

Please contact the Administrative Office at (919) 833-5834 if you or a close family member need our prayer.
