A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Cape Fear Community College
Dear Sea Devil Community,

We have been busy this summer at CFCC. In addition to our Summer students, our Downtown and North Campuses welcomed area school students to summer camps.

In particular, CFCC hosted two free, two-week Career Academy camps for students from area middle schools. 200 students were introduced to many of CFCC's top-ranked programs offered at our Wilmington and North Campuses such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Graphic Design, Pharmacy Technology, Dental Hygiene, Barbering, Marine Technology, Outboard Motor Systems, Electrical Lineworker, Truck Driver, First Responder, Cosmetology, 3D Printing, Machining, and Video and Production Technology. Under instructor supervision, students participated in hands-on activities. Students' favorites included assembling a mockup engine, compounding Smarties in pharmacy technology, truck driving, learning about life-saving procedures as a first responder, handling fire hoses, operating an excavator, and designing nails in cosmetology.

Through Career Academy, we have been able to provide these students with the opportunity to explore future career choices. I am so proud of our faculty and staff who have committed their time and energy to make this summer camp a success.

Our Fall semester begins August 22. Enrollment numbers are up and increasing daily. There are still seats available for anyone who is ready to begin or continue their education journey. Our academic advisors, financial aid specialists, and enrollment center are ready to answer questions and guide prospective and returning students in the right direction.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We hope you enjoy the following stories about how we are making a difference.

Sincerely,
Jim Morton, CFCC President
On Sunday, July 10, our CFCC Family lost a beloved member, Betsy Leonard. She was an essential member of the CFCC Foundation serving on its Board of Directors for many years. She loved helping CFCC students. This passion led to the Holiday Helpers program which helps with Christmas assistance for needy CFCC students and their children. Betsy's passion, enthusiasm, and energizing spirit will be missed.
In the Spotlight
Meet one of Hulu's Latest Stars: CFCC Drama Instructor Jack Landry. Landry worked with Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake, and Jason Ritter among others in the HULU series "Candy."

Pondering how to begin the college journey, CFCC Associate in Fine Arts-Visual Arts Graduate Jack Estep found CFCC to be a great springboard between high school and the 4-year university level.

Disability Support Services is now Student Accessibility Services!
CFCC’s Disability Support Services office is excited to announce that our name has changed to Student Accessibility Services! Our team felt that the term accessibility is much more inclusive and more accurately describes the services our office provides. Not only is there a stigma associated with the word "disability", but there are also many misconceptions. One of which is that the term disability only applies to severe physical and/or cognitive conditions. This deters many students who may qualify for accommodations from contacting disability services offices because they don't consider themselves as having a disability. Our hope is that this change will help promote inclusivity and access for all CFCC students.

Our office is located in the Union Station Building, U-218. For more information give us a call at (910)362-7800, email us at sas@cfcc.edu or visit our website https://cfcc.edu/student-accessibility-services
