Greetings! Here's your monthly guide to what's happening at CFCC.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Cape Fear Community College
Greetings from Jim Morton - CFCC President
Dear Sea Devil Community,

This is my favorite time of year. It's exciting to welcome students to campus for a new semester! We are so happy to see our students and faculty on campus, and we are ready for the year ahead.

Now is a great time to be a CFCC student! Financial assistance is readily available for the majority of students through COVID-related federal and state grants in addition to traditional financial aid and scholarships. Students enrolling this year will have fewer out-of-pocket costs than ever before. Please encourage anyone considering Cape Fear Community College to apply now! In addition to the full fall semester, we have several mini-sessions during the fall, and spring registration is just around the corner.

August has been a tremendous month so far. On August 6th, we celebrated our graduates at the Wilson Center, featuring an inspiring keynote address from CFCC Foundation Board Chair, Jack Fuller. It was wonderful to be back in the performance hall and recognize our graduates’ accomplishments. Last week, we held our annual In-Service event where we celebrated faculty and staff accomplishments and hosted professional development workshops for employees.

Two CFCC programs were recently recognized for their exceptional quality. Our Associate Nursing Degree program has once again ranked #1 in the state by NursingProcess.org and our Cosmetology program recently ranked best in the state by Prepler.com. Our outstanding faculty and staff are to be commended for their hard work that consistently pushes Cape Fear Community College to the top of state rankings in many instructional areas.

As always, I appreciate the tremendous support of our community and the many partnerships that help Cape Fear Community College students achieve their goals.

Go Sea Devils!
Jim Morton, CFCC President

CFCC Celebrates Our Summer 2021 Graduates!
Cape Fear Community College celebrated summer 2021 graduates with an in-person ceremony Friday, Aug. 6, at the Wilson Center. Over 500 students earned degrees, diplomas, and certificates from Cape Fear Community College this week, many of whom participated in the commencement ceremony.

"We are thrilled to celebrate our summer 2021 graduates," says CFCC President Jim Morton. "Persevering through a pandemic and successfully completing their coursework demonstrates a strength of character that has prepared these graduates for their next challenge. I am so proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success."

The ceremony celebrated students earning associate degrees, certificates, and diplomas in arts and sciences from the college’s university transfer and career and technical programs as well as students earning high school diplomas from CFCC’s adult high school and GED programs.

Congrats, Graduates! 🎓

CFCC Grad Spotlight
With her eyes set on a career as a registered veterinary medical technician, Jessica Bradley desired a program that would give her as much hands-on experience as possible. Through CFCC's VMT program, she was able to work with a variety of different animals.

“We would go out to farms to work on cows, horses, goats, and sometimes even chickens too. It’s a very fun program, you get super close with the rest of the class and teachers."

After graduation, Jessica will continue working at a local animal hospital and gear up to ace the national exam to become a registered technician!

Jessica's advice to any future VMT’s out there 👇
“… take a lot of notes, study – the teachers are all super helpful, but the material is hard. It’s not an easy program. Not everyone is cut out for it, but for those few truly dedicated, it is very rewarding."
