The information and feedback we gather from our annual CNS, assists us in planning needed services, responding to our funding source (MA Dept of EEC), and informing our legislators of our impact on the families of the Commonwealth!

Please find below a listing of all of the Self Help Inc. CFCE community based programs scheduled for MARCH 2017!! All programs provided are FREE for families! Programs are organized below by age level. Some programs are appropriate for more than one age level, and are listed in ALL appropriate age sections. What is the difference between multi-session groups and multiple sessions?
Multi-Session groups:
Multi-session groups typically run for consecutive weeks, and require that you sign up in advance for all sessions. They can run from 3 weeks to up to 10 weeks.
Multiple Sessions:
This means that the same program will be held on multiple dates and locations. Each session is individual and you can register for just one or more!

Drop-In Playgroup (multiple sessions)
Moms, Dads, and caretakers of young children...Come join Carol Carver - Early Childhood Support Specialist-from Self Help, Inc. Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Program. Parents can chat together, children can engage in toys-music-and-manipulatives together, and everyone will have some FUN!!! The Playgroup will run for approximately 45 minutes- with free play lasting about 20 minutes and then songs, stories, simple art and parachute play will be offered towards the later part! Parents requested that we try and take nighttime parent workshop topics and turn them into Parent-child activities. CFCE is going to try and adapt this suggestion by offering "Switch-a-roo"!!! This is now a parent-child activity - geared towards parents of preschoolers - that revolves around
GETTING YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN READY TO READ BY CREATING A LITERACY-RICH HOME!
During this time, parents and children will work & play together during activities, songs, movement, books, and some art designs. Other times parents will be hearing and sharing discussions about literacy, while their child is working on various related art projects that are simple with instructions and/or using some manipulatives.
Parents will go home with a bag full of helpful ideas while children will go home with a bag full of great projects and activities they created! FUN FOR ALL!!!

To register EACH MONTH call the Children's Librarian at 781-344-2711. The Bucket Fillers is a monthly (1st Thur. of the month except Dec) one hour playgroup based around "Acts of Kindness" for children from Kindergarten to Third Grade and their parent/guardian. Children will discuss topics such as; kindness, empathy, honesty, friendship and more. A book and art activity will correspond with the topic of the day. This particular program asks for parents to participate as well as the children. Children are given informal "home work" assignments each session.

 Magic Carpet Book Club: World Travel Edition! @ Canton Public Library (multiple sessions)

This year we will hop on our Magic Carpets and take a trip around the world! We learn how children live in other lands! At this MONTHLY GROUP will travel to a different continent and learn about the people and wonders of the land. We will meet children from all over the world and find out about their day. Using videos, books, and an awesome 3-D atlas we will travel the World. Each month we will compete a simple craft or play games from the places we visit. Children who have visited or have family in the countries we visit are encouraged to share their experiences. There will be artifacts from some of the countries we visit for children to explore. Each child will receive a "passport" and place a stamp form each country we visit. The children will be engaged in geography, science and social studies lessons. This program is for school age children in grades K-4.

School age children and parents will come together and use games and manipulatives that are out on the tables as everyone gathers. Circle time will include- trivia facts about the particular animal, did you know facts, stories, etc. Then , with use of paints, they will create an art project which will be a different animal every month. The paint tools they will be mainly using are their hands!!! Each creation is unique and special!!!

Discovery Workshops are monthly parent/ child activities for school aged children. Each workshop will focus on a new topic. Topics range from science-history-art. This program is appropriate for children in grades K-4th grade.

Parents requested that we try and take nighttime parent workshop topics and turn them into Parent-child activities. CFCE is going to try and adapt this suggestion by offering "Switch-a-roo"!!! This is now a parent-child activity - geared towards parents of preschoolers - that revolves around
GETTING YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN READY TO READ BY CREATING A LITERACY-RICH HOME!
During this time, parents and children will work & play together during activities, songs, movement, books, and some art designs. Other times parents will be hearing and sharing discussions about literacy, while their child is working on various related art projects that are simple with instructions and/or using some manipulatives.
Parents will go home with a bag full of helpful ideas while children will go home with a bag full of great projects and activities they created! FUN FOR ALL!!!
