AME members and CFE leaders Patricia O’Sullivan, EdD; Ann Poncelet, MD; and Sandrijn van Schaik, MD, PhD are excited to share with you highlights of 2019 initiatives for the Center for Faculty Educators. A major focus of these initiatives is the learning environment, as the impact of the environments in which we learn and work on educational outcomes and well-being has attracted the attention of educators at UCSF and beyond.
CFE presents two exciting opportunities to meet with UCSF's first Presidential Scholar in Education,  Cees van der Vleuten, PhD, who will share his internationally recognized expertise in assessment and learning. Register, hold, and share these dates with colleagues. Open to the UCSF community.  
Dean Talmadge E. King, Jr., MD and Renee Navarro, MD, PharmD , vice chancellor of Diversity and Outreach, discuss the importance and impact of diversity training offered via the Differences Matter initiative and Center for Faculty Educators. AME member, Manish Aghi, MD, PhD, MAS captures highlights from the 2019 SOM Leadership Retreat entitled “Bridging the Gap: From Curiosity to Cure at UCSF.” This year’s retreat focused on the importance of UCSF supporting high-risk, curiosity-driven research and how we can best ensure that the results of such research are creatively incorporated into the clinical enterprise at UCSF.
AME member Maria Wamsley, MD, director for the UC San Francisco Program for Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE), is featured in this new video on UCSF's Program for Inter-professional Practice and Education (PIPE). PIPE is designed to foster interprofessional teamwork and collaboration at the student level.

The CFE's Education Scientists consult as experts on educational matters with all UCSF professional schools at the UME, GME, and CME levels, and with individual faculty educational investigators. Weekly group consultations , a monthly journal club, regional and national conferences, and multi-institution research collaborations are part of the regular work of the group, and learners are involved at all levels. We welcome you to join the educational research community at UCSF.
