COPPERPOINT SUPPORTS CFF MISSION WITH $25K DONATION
IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF FARMWORKERS
| |
|
The California Farmworker Foundation’s services wouldn’t exist without the support from community and business partners that invest in the mission to improve the quality of life for farmworkers. CFF received a substantial donation from an important business partner, CopperPoint Insurance Companies with the donation of $25,000. CFF will use the funds to support the foundation’s regional health and education programs that serve farmworkers directly.
“CopperPoint understands the importance of taking care of those in the community who play a critical role, if not the most important, in our ability to access healthy, nutritious fruits and vegetables. The Foundation is grateful for this contribution which directly translates into providing services that improve lives one person at a time,” said Darrell Muniz, Chief Operating Officer.

CFF IS PROUD TO PRESENT
3rd Annual Dia De La Familia in Parlier
| |
|
On Sundays, families hold a special place, and CFF recognizes this significance by introducing Dia De La Familia (DDLF), a free Sunday event tailored for farmworker families. Dia de la Familia is a day dedicated to celebrating our hardworking community and their families, offering resources aligned with key needs in the area: Education, Housing, Health, and Wellness. Besides addressing these needs, we have also welcome organizations that resonate with our pillars of service: Education, Immigration services, Health and Wellness, Workforce Development, and Community Engagement. People of all ages and backgrounds gather to enjoy the day, with free food and various booths providing essential resources and services for farmworkers. Children can partake in kid’s activities, while attendees can have the benefit of listening to live entertainment by local musicians and folk dancers.
To inquire about a booth or become a sponsor of Dia De La Familia, reach out to info@californiafarmworkers.org.

An increase in funding has been allocated for agricultural employers who train their employees. If you recall, CFF recently held an informational online seminar about training reimbursement for employers in partnership with Kern Community College District (KCCD) which facilitates funding contracts.
The Employment Training Panel (ETP) announced a $10M Agricultural Initiative with support from the California Department of Food & Agriculture. Half of the funding, $5M, will be allocated for training that addresses skill gaps among the workforce – such as language learning, math skills or digital learning. This means that growers can receive funding, in the form of reimbursement, for each employee trained (up to 200 hours annually). The ETP Agricultural Initiative increases statewide reimbursement rates from $14-$16 per hour per employee to $20-$25 per hour for agricultural employers. The reimbursement amount is determined by different variables – such in-house trainer vs. a third party.
Nealy all types of training provided to employees is reimbursable. Trainings topics can range from equipment specific training, basic computer skills, first aid, or language learning classes. If you are interested in learning more about using offering training for your employees, please contact CFF staff depending on your location: Alejandra Rodriguez (Riverside and Imperial counties) alejandra.rodriguez@californiafarmworkers.org or (661) 561-0186. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) provides a range of support programs designed to help save energy and money. We are honored to collaborate with PG&E and other organizations to raise awareness about these valuable support initiatives benefiting farm-working families statewide.
These assistance programs encompass various options, including:
1) Energy discount programs that provide longer term assistance to reduce
future energy bills.
2) One-time financial assistance with past due energy bills.
3) Additional programs to help you manage life’s essentials like medical device
support, phone and internet services and more!
Employers who are interested in educating their employees about the cost-savings programs can contact Kimberly Clark at Kimberly.clark@californiafarmworkers.org to learn more. CFF staff will be available to share the information to worksites to speak with employees.
