(EN) Dr. Amy Snow, DVM, BSc – National Manager, CFIA

Dr. Amy Snow holds a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph. She has worked at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) since December 2009. Prior to joining CFIA, Dr. Snow worked for seven years in small animal private practice. She began her work at the CFIA in the Animal Import/Export Division, where her focus was on the importation of live animal commodities. She is currently National Manager of the Foreign Animal Disease Section of the Animal Health, Welfare and Biosecurity Division of the CFIA; however, since December 2018, she has been working exclusively on African swine fever, acting as the Planning Chief for the National Emergency Operations Centre. In this role, she has had the opportunity for extensive stakeholder collaboration which she has enjoyed immensely. Amy lives in rural Ottawa with her husband, two kids, various pets and enjoys hiking, biking and cottaging with the family in her time away from work.
(EN) Dr. Bobbie Lundquist, DVM, MSc – National Operations Veterinary Specialist, CFIA

Dr. Bobbie Lundquist is a veterinarian in the National Operational Guidance and Expertise Terrestrial Animal Health Disease Control Unit with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. 

She received her DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (2000) and completed a Master degree in Large Animal Clinical Sciences specializing in veterinary epidemiology in 2015 (WCVM). During her time with the CFIA she has been the Foreign Animal Disease preparedness veterinarian for the Saskatchewan region (2006-2011) and Western Canada (2011-2012). Over the years, she has been engaged in federally reportable disease outbreaks such as: Anthrax (SK 2006, 2007), Chronic Wasting Disease in SK, AB & QC (2006-2020), Avian Influenza (SK 2007) & Bovine Tuberculosis (AB 2016, BC 2018) and engaged in the planning and implementation of FAD exercises including a USDA-APHIS FMD National Veterinary Stockpile Exercise (ON 2009) and Avian Influenza first response exercises (SK 2010, AB 2012, BC 2018). Currently, Dr. Lundquist is dedicated to CFIA African Swine Fever preparedness and prevention activities.
(FR) Dr. Sonja Laurendeau, DVM, IPSAV – National Operations Veterinary Specialist, CFIA

Dr. Sonja Laurendeau received her DVM with a specialization in industrial medicine (swine and poultry) from the University of Montreal in 1996. She has been employed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for 20 years and is currently a National Operations Veterinary Specialist at the Center of Expertise in Animal Health – Traceability and Terrestrial Animal Disease Control.

Her role is to contribute to emergency preparedness within the CFIA and when interacting with various partners (e.g. federal, provincial, industry representatives) in the event of the introduction on the Canadian territory of an animal disease with a significant economic impact. Dr. Laurendeau has held various positions in both the Operations and Planning sections at several emergency operations centres for animal health incidents in Canada associated with BSE, swine influenza and avian influenza (SK BSE 2003, CB AI 2004, CB AI 2005, CB AI 2009, AB H1N1 2009, CB AI 2014, ON AI 2015, ON AI 2016).
