Message from our Executive Director
Spring always brings much-needed renewal and new beginnings. In this issue of our e-newsletter, we announce our Spring 2023 Community Grants recipients, share a special update from our Adverse Childhood Experiences & Resilience Coalition project manager, and introduce you to our wonderful new team members. Investing in our technology and our talent is critical to building our capacity to be of the highest service to our community partners and to our funders. We will enhance our ways to engage you on the issues facing our region, the people and organizations meeting those challenges head-on, and help you to make a difference in the areas that matter to you most.
Warmly,
Stacy G Kelly (he/him)

ADDRESSING FOOD INSECURITY
|
|
The Kingston Response: The Food Sharing Project
|
Back in the cold days of December 2022, Kingstonians enjoyed a coffee and breakfast from Pan Chancho or Chez Piggy as part of their annual School Breakfast Fund campaign. The $33,000 raised was used by The Food Sharing Project to provide nutritious food to schools for their in-school breakfast, lunch, and hearty snack programs.
Thanks to donors like you, students have been able to get the food they need at school to help them take advantage of all that school has to offer, especially those from the 1 in 9 families who are food insecure. Students have now experience increased energy, improved focus on academic tasks, and more positive social interactions with their peers. In the words of one student, “The food I get at school is the best food I have all day.”
Today, The Food Sharing Project continues to provide more food to meet the demand, now supplying over 10,000 meals every week to 104 school meal programs.
