Community Foundations COVID-19 Grant Program Opens
Grants will help eligible nonprofits and food pantries
Nonprofits and food pantries have stepped up to serve Mississippians in need during the most significant public health crisis of a generation.

In response, the Mississippi Legislature established the Community Foundations COVID-19 Grant Program with $8 million of CARES Act funding. Eligible nonprofits and food pantries may apply for reimbursement of up to $4,000 of pandemic-related expenses incurred from March 1st to December 30, 2020.

In central Mississippi, the Community Foundation for Mississippi will provide $2.4 million in grants to organizations in the Foundation’s 22-county service area.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR FUNDING

Organizations must be either a nonprofit entity or a food pantry. If an entity meets both definitions, such as a nonprofit that operates a food pantry and has other programs, the organization may qualify as an eligible grantee for both funds.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Secure required documents to prove nonprofit or food pantry status.

  • Visit Mississippi Cares Grant website to learn more and create an account.

  • Complete eligibility questionnaire. If YES, proceed to application. If NO, you are not eligible to participate.

  • Complete online application for expenses incurred from 3/1/20 to 12/30/20.

  • Only one application for eligibility and one request for reimbursement may be submitted. Applicants must complete the eligibility portion of the application by December 21, 2020. The full application must be submitted by January 15, 2021.

  • Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
