CFMA VOS Chapter Updates

25th Annual Golf Tournament
recap by Golf Co-Chair Dave Miller

On October 28, the Valley of the Sun Chapter of CFMA held its annual golf tournament. This was the 25th anniversary of the tournament and had 126 registered golfers. This year's tournament was a little bit of old and a little bit of new. The old: We held the event at Orange Tree Golf Resort, where the tournament has been held for several years. Once again, CBIZ MHM was the title sponsor. The new: We had a golf ball launcher on one of the holes as part of the fund raising effort. Golfers, for a donation, could use the launcher that shot the golf ball 325 yards to the green on the 10th hole, a par 4. This addition was enjoyed by all! Thanks to all the golfers, we raised over $3,100 on the day of the event from raffle prize donations and the golf ball launcher. Overall, thanks to our many generous sponsors, including CBIZ, Sundt Construction, Haydon Building, Sunland Asphalt, and Jokake Construction, we raised over $21,700. The funds raised are used to give back to the construction industry by providing scholarships to students studying in the fields of construction or accounting. In addition to these college scholarships, some of the funds are used to sponsor VoS Members to attend the annual CFMA conference as first time attendees, as well as to provide partial scholarships for VoS Member candidates sitting for the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional exam.

Thanks to all of our wonderful sponsors and volunteers who made the event possible!

Each year, CFMA honors an individual that has made significant contributions to the construction industry and the community. The Construction Industry Pioneer Award represents individuals who have contributed greatly over a long career in Arizona construction, construction causes, industry education and giving back to the community.
In preparing for the 2016 CFMA Construction Executive of the Year event, we are asking your help by nominating those you know who are deserving of this recognition.  Please provide the person's name, current contact information, and a description of why they should be considered for the award.
Please send nominee information to Matt Meaker by close of business November 6th.

December Meeting
Sun Devil Stadium Tour

In keeping with tradition, December's monthly meeting will be a special event.  This year we have the opportunity to tour the remodel project going on at ASU's Sun Devil Stadium, being constructed by a joint venture of Sundt Construction & Hunt Construction.  Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 10th, and stay tuned for more details coming soon.  We will also be collecting monetary donations at this event to support St. Mary's Food Bank as a way of giving back during the holidays.
