Emergency Impact Fund Expands

Since launching in March, the Emergency Impact Fund has supported 46
Ohio Valley organizations with grants totaling $197,714!

The needs our area's organizations are facing due to COVID-19 continue to evolve.

CFOV has reaffirmed its commitment to nonprofits through some evolution of its own by the way of Emergency Impact Fund 2.0!

By reallocating funds that would typically be used for the Foundation's annual unrestricted grant program, the Community Impact Fund, CFOV has made more funds available to support nonprofits navigate the new normal.

This retooled phase of grantmaking through the Emergency Impact Fund also features an expansion of criteria to reflect the progression of COVID related changes.  In addition to the initial focus of basic human needs, requests to support organizational survivability in any form are also encouraged.

The process will open Monday, September 21 and organizations interested in applying should visit here to get started.

Previous applicants to the initial Emergency Impact Fund are invited to submit new applications as submissions will not be carried over.

As with the original Emergency Impact Fund process, applications will be reviewed and considered as long as funding is available.

Questions about Emergency Impact Fund 2.0
applications can be directed to Debbie.

  • The WGC is building a community of women philanthropists and creating a permanent legacy to address the needs of women and girls. The goal is to assist women and girls achieve lifetime goals that might not otherwise be attainable without the support provided by the giving circle.
  • Opportunities also exist for Donor Advised Funds to take part in grantmaking that supports critical needs in West Virginia counties.

Taxpayers who do not itemize will see no change based on State Tax Credits.  We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor for professional tax advice regarding this matter.

CFOV is a Funding Information Network Partner!

As a member of Candid's Funding Information Network, CFOV can share free public access to databases and resources designed with grantseekers in mind.

The Foundation Directory Online (FDO) is a GIANT database of funding opportunities and details pertaining to funding providers.  You may remember this resource being available on the campus of Wheeling University some years ago and under the umbrella of the Foundation Center.  After some rebranding and fine tuning, the service is now a Candid product.

Not only is It is much more robust, but it is now available in our building!

CFOV's commitment to area nonprofits is certainly strengthened through this partnership.  A dedicated space on the second floor of our building serves as a nonprofit resource center and features workstations connected to the FDO.

The plan was to have our space open for appointments now,
but COVID threw quite a curveball!

Despite that snag, we're happy to share a solution!
Although we're not welcoming guests to our space right now, we do have the ability to provide remote access to the same software through the end of the year.

If you'd like to have access to the tools available through our partnership with Candid, please reach out to Janet for those instructions.  In addition, our staff includes a certified user who can walk you through the software and arm you with tips and tricks to make your funding searches as successful as possible!
