CFPD's 8th Annual "150 Women Who Care" Event a Huge Success, with Everyone Leaving a Winner

The Community Foundation of Portage and District held their 8th Annual "150 Women Who Care" event on Feb. 19 at the William Glesby Centre, where 4 local organizations made a pitch to the 150 women in attendance as to why they should receive the $10,000 Community Impact Grant. The women voted for the Saint Nicholas Ukrainian Church to receive the funds, which will go toward much-needed renovations to their basement kitchen, an important community hub for social, cultural, and educational activities. Each runner-up received $1000 to put toward their projects, provided by Community Futures Heartland and White Horse Plains. The recipient of the Women Who Care Fund Grant was also announced, with the $5400 going to the Salvation Army, to execute their 'BRAVE' programan initiative committed to educating and empowering women and girls at risk, in order to reduce vulnerability to sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Thomas Sill Fund Grant Received by CFPD Makes Significant Impact

We are very excited to announce we have once again received funding, in the amount of $22,264.10, from the Thomas Sill Manitoba Fund Grant. These grants are expected to be received on an annual basis, making a significant impact on this community and the amount of funding CFPD has available to grant out to our local citizens. We are so grateful for the generosity of Thomas Sill, and pleased to be able to execute grantmaking in his name.

CFPD Impact Stories

This month's Impact Story highlights the "150 Women Who Care Community Impact Grant" and the impact it has had on the 2025 recipient, the Infant Memorial Garden. The group received the $10,000 grant at the 2025 "150 Women Who Care" Event after pitching their project and receiving the majority of votes from the 150 women in attendance.
