CFR's Matching Tool Finds Home for Tomato Donation
Farmer Amanda Cather donates 200 lbs. of surplus organic tomatoes
Plow and Stars farmer and Haile Gebregziabher, Director of Operations at
Shepherd's Table have never met. Yet together with Bill Franz, a
Community Food Rescue volunteer food runner, each contributed to the delicious spaghetti dinner last Friday that Shepherd's Table provided to their client guests. As soon as Amanda posted her donation of 200 lbs. of organic tomatoes, Community Food Rescue's new
Web application instantly matched it with Shepherd's Table.

Community Food Rescue's new Web application launched on September 8th! Montgomery County licensed food businesses that have surplus food to donate can now easily connect with food assistance organizations that provide food to people experiencing hunger. "This is just the program we need around here," says Robert Pietrobono, owner of the restaurant
Olazzo. "I recently had to throw away some food from a catering event and it was such a waste. If I knew I could donate it to a worthy cause, I would have been happy to do so. I'm really looking forward to being part of the program."
