COVID-19 Updates: Boosters Available for 5-11 Year Olds, Mulitple Testing Options Available, Continue Preventative Measures as COVID-19 Has Not Ended

COVID-19 booster shots for children ages 5-11 were recently approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and County-operated clinics are providing them for children who had their second dose at least five months ago. Read more.

Rental Assistance for County Residents

Eligible Montgomery County renters can soon apply for additional COVID-19 rent relief through the fourth phase of the County’s Rent Relief program, which provides financial assistance for tenants that have experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 health crisis. Read more.

The Taste of Wheaton will return after a two-year hiatus with a full day of food, music and activities for all ages from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, at Marian Fryer Plaza in Downtown Wheaton. Wheaton Downtown Study open house on June 14
Montgomery Planning will provide background on the study, and initial strategies to advance the vision of the 2012 Wheaton CBD and Vicinity Sector Plan
WHEATON, MD – The Montgomery County Planning Department, part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, will hold a community open house for the Wheaton Downtown Study on June 14, 2022 (4 – 7:00 p.m.) at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters Auditorium (2425 Reedie Drive, Floor 2, Wheaton, MD 20902). At the open house, Montgomery Planning staff will provide an overview of the purpose of the study, discuss strengths, opportunities and challenges within the Wheaton Central Business District, and present initial strategies to further the implementation of the 2012 Wheaton CBD and Vicinity Sector Plan. The open house is in-person only and the presentation will be made available on demand.

Office of the County Executive is hiring for two Business Liaison Officers (PM II, grade 25). Closing date June 10. Proficiency in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Amharic, or French is preferred but not required.
The successful candidates will proactively establish strong working relationships with small businesses through regular, face-to-face contacts that foster support and encourage participation in the County’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. They will work to solve problems, help remove systemic barriers to starting and growing businesses in the County, share resources to support small business growth, and promote their successes. These positions will also work in close coordination with all County departments and agencies, the County-funded economic and workforce development organizations, and business, academic and community partners.

on Saturday, June 11

A job fair for holders of Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL licenses) and for individuals who would like to pursue earning a CDL license to get jobs with Montgomery County will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, at the County Executive Office Building in Rockville. The job fair will offer details on CDL-related jobs, and other positions, with the County’s Department of Transportation, the Department of Alcohol Beverage Services and the Department of General Services. 2022 Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival Poster Contest
Winner is K.S. Brenowitz of Silver Spring
The sixth annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival poster will be based on the design submitted by K.S. Brenowitz, a Silver Spring resident and graphic artist. The contest was open to all residents of Montgomery County. Following their selection, Brenowitz worked with Wheaton Art Parade designer Josue Martinez of Corinto Gallery to apply the original design to the poster and for use on other promotional materials, including the T-shirt, for the event that will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, in Downtown Wheaton.
