EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CORNER

MEMBERSHIP - AREA D VP - ALISON ECCLESTON

Membership Branding is about clarifying your message, strengthening your story, and inviting others to belong. Branding shows the world who you are, what you value, and what you are doing. When your mission, logo, tagline, story, and website work together, they help people see the heart of your club and invite them to become part of it.

Part five- Building ownership, pride, and connection.

A meaningful club story helps members feel proud of who they are, what they contribute, and what the club accomplishes together. Ask members why they joined, what keeps them involved, and what helps them feel a sense of belonging.

·      Why did I join?

·      What keeps me involved?

·      How do we help members feel ownership?

·      How do we celebrate pride in ourselves, our club, and our shared work?

The concluding Part 6 will be here next week.

ARTS & CULTURE - NANCY JO BANKO, Chair

Sports are often praised for teaching team work and leadership, but I believe Dance and Theatre offer even more such opportunities. So much goes into a production: set design, lighting design, direction, props, costumes. Add in the performers, stage hands, stage managers, dressers -who must all work perfectly in tandem. Those in this genre spend hours in rehearsal developing skills like teamwork, leadership, public speaking. These performances add so much to the fabric of our lives. What can your club do to support this discipline?

·      Work with schools and community theatres by ushering and/or providing refreshments. This could be a fundraiser if fees were charged and then donated to the school/company.

·      Provide funds to underwrite tickets or discounts for seniors, students and/or veterans to attend performances.

·      Invite school choir or drama group to perform at your club or in a public venue

·      Have sewing skills? These groups always need seamstresses for costumes.

Special note: Usually, projects can only be reported if the funds go through the club treasury. While this is true for most of the CSPs, there is an exception for Arts & Culture. Where would performances be without an audience?  Your club may organize a group outing to attend a performance, where members may buy their own tickets. This must be a recognized project by the club and needs to be more than just a couple members.
