EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CORNER

MEMBERSHIP - AREA D VP - ALISON ECCLESTON

Membership Branding is about clarifying your message, strengthening your story, and inviting others to belong. Branding shows the world who you are, what you value, and what you are doing. When your mission, logo, tagline, story, and website work together, they help people see the heart of your club and invite them to become part of it.

Part three, Shape your club’s story.

A strong club story helps members and prospective members understand not only what your club does, but why it matters. The story should be short enough to share in conversation and meaningful enough to create connection.

·      Who is the heroine of your club story?

·      What did she have to overcome?

·      How did joining the club solve her problem?

·      Can members tell the story simply and consistently?

·     Activity: Draft a 30-second version of your club story. Focus on the problem, the people involved, the action taken, and the difference your club made.

ARTS & CULTURE - NANCY JO BANKO, Chair

“If Music be the food of love – play on!” I think the Bard was on to something. Think of how intertwined Music is in our lives: at weddings, funerals, prom, graduations, religious services, birthdays, anniversaries, exercising, elevators & grocery stores [isn’t that how we know we’ve gotten older when we recognize the Musak from our youth?}; not to mention concerts and sports – the band on the football field, the National Anthem, theatre, dance and movies. Remember mix tapes? Did someone special make one for you? Or did you give one yourself?

A few suggestions for your club to support Music in your community:

· Host a recital for voice students; provide refreshments

· Sponsor a performance of senior musicians

· Fundraise to buy sheet music for high school choir/band [perhaps have them perform]

· Sponsor a musician to the CFWC Young Musicians Contest

Remember, October is Arts & Humanities Month. Click HERE to connect to the GFWC Arts & Culture Newsletter for more ideas.

What is CASA?

A Casa (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a mentor and advocate appointed by the court. After undergoing training, they are sworn in by a judge and paired with a child to provide consistency and support as they navigate the foster care system.

How do I get involved?

The journey to become a CASA starts at their information sessions. From there, they will support you through every step, including the application, background check and into your advocacy. Join one of their information sessions to get started.
